This is interesting & has similarities to cyclamen

@jeatacake You're right, they do look similar... and the plant is very interesting, just growing wild in random shady areas around my house! If you haven't read the encyclopedia entry yet, you definitely should 😁

Just had a look. Very interesting, especially using it to flavour things. Never ever seen it in the UK.

@jeatacake I've never seen it anywhere else besides my yard, lol

Maybe it's very rare?

@jeatacake I think it might need a very specific climate or soil maybe? I only ever find it growing in dark, shady corners and under edges of larger plants. Doesn't seem to like getting too much sunlight and the ground nearby is usually damp & mossy.

Also, it may need a specific fungi in the soil from what I read about it, which may not be too widespread either?

These things are supposedly where the word "pip" comes from #pipsissewa

Isn't that also considered a woodland wildflower?

@lesliecole49 I've never seen it flower, but it is definitely a "wildplant" 😉 No idea where it came from, just appeared along the side of my house last year

Looked it up, yes it is a wildflower common to the north woods. It is also used medicinally if you're interested

@lesliecole49 Thanks for the info 😊

Doesn't look like it's changed AT ALL from the photo 3 months ago, lol (except for leaves on the ground) #fall #pipsissewa

Wow I love this 🖒

@wesleybrian Yeah it's crazy looking, right? Grows wild around here & is apparently used to flavor root beer, lol 😀

How interesting plant 👍
