Note to self: Don't put moonstone babies in direct sun..The forina has rubbed off the parent leaf and they burnnnnnn. 1 day was all it took.

So glad you posted this I had no idea why mine did the same, I'll move them down to the next shelf out of direct sun 😊

Once the leaf drops off they can take all the direct sun you can throw at them but only if the forina on it is intact @angiecrazycatlady :)

Thanks @hayleyaj and @marlynroses I have two others as well in other pots. I got super lucky. Had 10 leaves I think and they all were successful. Shame I only really wanted one haha. I'll have to give the rest away :) I remember I didn't water them much though. Mainly just spray bottle every 2 days and quite low light levels at first. Who knows! I'm in my room the majority of the time with having ME so they do get looked after an awful lot :)

Do you just lay the leaves on top of the compost or do you push them down a bit so they are more in contact with the soil 😊

8w
comment
Alcurtis93

Hi @angiecrazycatlady I just lay them on top to avoid excess moisture getting into the leaf but if they callous up well enough then it isn't too much of a concern. I just find this way works best so the leaf doesn't expend loads of energy trying to push the baby up through the soil to reach light. You can certainly push it into the soil a little to stop the leaf wiggling round though :)

This is a pachyphytum oviferum. Moonstones plant. If you look at my other photos I have jades :) None of mine have ever flowered but haven't had them very long. Less than 6 months
