#underrated many people think of clover as a weed in their yard. The best honey comes from clover nectar the bees collect. Plus clover will grow in places other plants and weeds can’t. Even enduring high walking traffic
@moore.794 I ponder on the whole subject to native. I wasn’t around 2000 years ago to see what plants were here. Possible native Americans have Asian roots coming across the land bridge. Who knows what they brought with them. Not saying I want to destroy our current native plants. But I think many plants can grow happily together, with both native and non native supporting the current wildlife cycles. Environment/world is constantly changing.
Many non natives do not provide proper nutrition for our native creatures. The honey bees evolved along with the white clover and were brought over here. There is much discussion at this time. Our insects are in danger due to chemicals and pollution. They need the best nutrition to survive. Around our house can count the number of pollinators easily. Very few!!! @ambitiouswolf
I have lots of pollinators. Loads of honey bees this year. Honeybees even took over one of the bird baths. Lots of mason bees. Have 4 hummingbirds. And hummingbird moths. The one pollinator I am not seeing is butterflies even though I have their host plants. I have only seen the little white one. This year is the first I have not had butterflies. But this is the first year I have seen so many honeybees. Always had some. I haven’t seen this many honeybees since I was a kid. @moore.794

I encourage clover even though it's not native to ohio, but it is native for the honey bees. Both came from Europe.
And it's very #fragrant up close
