@sunlovin, have you ever propogated the little buds? I was wondering since there are so many I should see if they regrow and if the buds will become the mommas....no one I know has ever done that!
Ok, so I moved around the rocky soil to roots EVERYWHERE, and every single pup I gently twisted back and forth with tweezers had long roots! I barely did 1/4 of the pups that seemed most choked up and I have so many pups needing to repot!! I seriously cannot handle so many rainbow burst cactus- wonder if anyone would like some? Wonder if I can add photos to a conversation thread so y’all can see how crazy my big cactus pups are
You can't add a picture to a thread, but you can always add another picture under this plant! Amazing that each was pup had it's own root system! I suppose in nature, they would fall off the mother plant and land ready to become a full grown-up cactus!
Yes, I have pulled them off and replanted them. Many Cacti will do that even without roots. They are most successful when they are in their active growing period which would be spring. Yours have roots already so that’s even easier. You live in Texas, @txgardener Is very helpful you can check out her profile, she has a lot of experience in your area. Your on your way to a new exciting world of plant propagation! 🌞
Thanks @KariSamuel and @summerlovin for the feedback- wow I feel like a dentist! Those roots were seriously long! If anyone wants to see I will post those babies up and now I’m scrambling to plant them until I get them new homes! My son is the cactus man, and his plant and wow he’s freaking out over that extraction!! It really was overloaded and buds, and now I’m looking at the bulb wondering if more will grow! It sure did with my beautiful red flower blooming rose quartz cactus(my favorite 😍)
@txgardener you have an awesome page! I was wondering from that thick greenery if you’re in east Texas ( I used to live in Longview and from there all the way south to Houston it’s piney woods and swamp!) I’m in San Antonio now with plenty of humidity 😓
82 buds on this big momma jomma!
Wow!
Ain’t that great? I got one too. 💚🌵
