Moved 12 years ago to a property with an 80ft garden which was just like a field of weeds! My husband has helped me create the garden of my dreams

Invasive they may be, but I can't deny their beauty 😍

Omg I hope that’s not your garden! That thug will take it over. Took me years to get it out of mine and I’m still pulling them out here and there 😭

@elleq it's in a pot and the spent flower heads are cut off before they set seed 😃

Does it have a triangular stem, if so it could be Allium Triquetrum? If it is this it's a real thug 🤔

It might be three cornered garlic/leek - Allium triquetrum. If it is, I’ve read it can be a thug - it would normally flower a little later but I guess where it’s been mild some things are popping up early

An invasive species brought over to the UK from the Mediterranean, it is an offence under Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act in England and Wales to plant or otherwise cause to grow this species in the wild. https://www.wildfooduk.com › three... I found this too Andrea and Rich @richard.spicer.7906

Thank you @pelly and @richard.spicer.7906 😊 I'm kinda torn now because it's extremely pretty, but don't want it taking over my garden (it's bad enough with the bluebells!)

It is pretty, I agree, but I don't think I'd want it in my garden 🤔👍

Cutting the flower heads off when they start to die back will greatly reduce its spread providing you do it before seeds ripen. It will still be getting bigger by bulb offsets but the seeds will be what makes it spread further afield - possibly how it arrived in your garden - as Jane said it’s a thug. Maybe dig it up and keep it in a pot, or a sunken pot, so at least the bulblets don’t get spread either while you dig around it?

Although just thinking based on the link Jane mentioned maybe it’s safer to remove and dispose of it safely 🤔
