My extremely untamed rose 😯
Sometimes it's refreshing to let a plant just go. Let them do their thing. Nature at its best 😊
Thank you @mrsburns! 😊
If it's not in the way let it go😊
Looking beautiful 😆

Thank you @katgreen ☺
I've heard much about the fabulous scent of this rose but alas I've not had the pleasure :)
It does have good scent @RicardoListeretti and is a very vigorous plant. I made the error of barely pruning it and now it's gone crazy! 😊
Ps this photo is about a third of it!
You can remove all the non flowering top growth now and take the whole plant down to fence level after first flush of flowers has finished. The trick with climbers is to get the canes growing as horizontal as poss (whilst still flexible), with the lowest ones as low as 12" from the ground. Then flowering shoots will break out at every leaf joint and you get a wall of flowers from the base up. Having said all that, it looks stunning as it is; and perfectly natural :)
Thank you @RicardoListeretti - I've never been great at training climbers but will definitely give that a go ☺

Hello @andreamarie, I an going green with envy over your roses, beautiful and so healthy, not like ours, we planted 11 roses 2 yrs ago last yr they were brilliant, no trouble! But this yr they have been blighted with greenfly and black spot, all the growing buds are misshapen and look awful all except one and that is Golden sunset, all the rest are David Austin and most were £15 to £20 each, it's heartbreaking!!!
@kerimyth don't despair roses are quite resilient. I have lots with greenfly and blacksmith and even a few with rust 😥. I do find my David Austin's are more prone to disease than the others. I try to pick off leaves with blackspot. It is unsightly but shouldn't affect the flowers. Rust is the worst and if I see any I cut it off and dispose of. Then wash the secateurs to prevent spreading. Greenfly I try to rub off with my fingers as I have a fish pond and can't use chemicals. It's a lot of faff
Haha blackspot not blacksmith! 😂
Ooh just realised the end of my sentence was cut off! I was saying it's a lot of faffing around but rewarding when it pays off
@Andreamarie thanks for the advice, we thought buying David Austin would be the best way to get healthy plants so didn't mind paying that bit extra on them, the only rose that has been struck down with anything is a cheap one we bought bought for £5!!!! But when I say they have greenfly I mean they are covered !!! Really!! Try as I might they just keep coming back! And the blooms are all raggedy looking now and leaves all curled and looking awful, but they were just fine last yr, so don't know
what has happened this yr! Such a shame though!!xxx
