106 year old Edwardian cottage garden with a 106 year old house attached which is equally challenging. Some days I feel like I'm the same age.

#hollyhock #alcea rosea Flowers look fantastic foliage eaten alive. Practically all been shredded. Taken most of the leaves off. The plant itself is very healthy now towering over 7 ft.

These are lovely Mo. I haven't had much success with them in the past, but a friend has given me seven black hollyhock babies. So I reckon I'll give them another go.

Thanks @marymary but as you can see I only have success with the flowers. I've never been able to grow a clean foliage plant yet. They always have rust and on this occasion pests eating them too. The flowers look good but if I hadn't taken off the leaves they would have looked awful. Good luck with your black ones. They are beautiful. I've been tempted but my soil doesn't seem to like hollyhocks which is a shame because they suit the old garden & house. 😀
