Camelia Japonica 'Black Tie'. Sole survivor from a purchase of twelve. When I moved here, had visions of red Camelia garden with white gardenia in a shaded position. Area was too cold and dark, flooded and alive with ants that love to carry sooty mould to Camelias and gardenias. This Camelia and one of twelve gardenias survived, both of which are now happy after being moved. First flower for the Camelia. Really think I am better off with Hibiscus! #camelia #camelia-red #camelia-japonica #camelia

Camellia 'Black Tie'. Nearly missed the first flower hidden amongst the leaves. This one is a survivor from twelve I planted with a dozen white gardenia. The area was too cold and damp for either shrub. Rescued three surviving Gardenia with this Camellia. A sad #plantstory for me. #camellia #camellia-blacktie
