Dendrobium Speciosum. Showing previously flowered foliage and new growth on old canes. @Addict pics for comparison. I have mine growing in NZ pine and charcoal mixed with course orchid potting mix from Orchidaceous Supplies. #dendrobium #dendrobium-speciosum #oznative #oznative-orchid
Thank you n_n i experimented with mine, have a few in 100% charchoal and a few in 70% charcoal and then perlite, vermiculite, and seed soil having 10% each. Is 'mulch pine' alright, is the only kind of pine i can recall finding so far
I use the NZ pine because it does not break down and go soggy which can cause roots to rot. I would be cautious of using anything that might have been treated with chemicals or is likely to break down and go soggy. The mix, charcoal, vermiculite sounds ok. Some people add coconut fibre too. I spray with foliar seaweed feed and add slow release fertiliser to potting mix.
