Hippeastrum 'Charisma'. 2nd of my Hippeastrum to bloom. Happy ro see they are coming aling after digging them all up last year in a bit of garden organisation. This one has three flower spikes to extend the flower show. Big dramatic bold trumpets of colours. #hippeastrum #hippeastrum-charisma
@sieveheadsarah Thank you Sarah. They make a wonderful display in October (mid Spring). They grow new bulbs so each year the display increases. All of mine are from a passionate breeder who died last year. I am fortunate to have a good collection of his unique flowers.
It is a tropical bulb. Would probably freeze to death outside over winter. Stick to Daffodils, Tulips and those beautiful Crocus that I cannot grow here in the heat. 😊
There are some of these that can overwinter in the ground outdoors, but most can not. I wish I could tell you ones that can, but I’ve only seen them in yards as I drove/walked past.
Hippeastrum 'Charisma'. 6th flower to bloom. Unfortunately stem was damaged in wind and rain. Happily the flower lasts well when cut. #hippeastrum #hippeastrum-charisma

I've just put mine in the garage for 6 weeks of rest, just hope it flowers again for Christmas. Don't think it would survive outside here.
