Hi Annette. What medium do you plant your phaelonopsis in. I'm trying to help a clueless neighbour rescue 1 with wilted leaves, but I'm not much better. #advice
@novicegardenlover Phalaenopsis potting mix is to hold roots secure, not feed roots like plants. I use dry mix, no soil and nothing that will break down and go soggy, free draining. 2 parts New Zealand Pine Bark, 1 part Perlite and 1 part charcoal. This mix keeps roots dry so they do not rot. Professionals (not me) feed their orchids weekly, alternating acquasol and liquid feed. I spray foliar feed of liquid seaweed; make sure water does not sit in crown. Water occasionally, with orchid feed.
Thank you. I will definitely have to repot. The potting mix has some coconut fibre, which of course retains moisture. Works for my orchids and anthurium though. I think he also had his phal in too much sun but I don't know.
@novicegardener Coconut fibre is ok, some growers use it as it is free draining. Some use sphagnum moss too which I do not like. Too much sun is not good. Dappled light and humidity is best.
Phalaenopsis. Always delighted when these plants bounce back from neglect and bloom again and again. #phalaenopsis #orchid #phalaenopsis-junglecat
