Excellent planting Gaby you can remove any tatty looking leaves but don't cut back until after flowering 👍

@icedance thank you but I have cut it now 😱🙊 I read up about planting irises and how the leaves act like a sail in the wind so I was worried my iris roots would be disturbed. Hope they'll survive now? I'm not bothered about them flowering this year, I just want them to produce strong roots for next year as they didn't have many roots on them when I planted them. Haha I should have waited for advice but I'm not very patient (especially as I'm stuck indoors with my bad finger!)

Sounds like you've probably done your best for them .. as you say better they settle in well .. you probably won't get flowers this year but you never know plants have a habit of surprising us 😯 really hope that finger heals up soon 😘

Thanks @icedance 😊 my neighbour also gave me some other plants which should flower this year (iris sibirica and crocosmia) so I'm happy 😁
