There I was at the top of the ladder cutting the #kiwi off the drainpipe and then I spotted this nest and came straight back down again. Does anyone know what bird made it? #wildlifewednesday
Blackbird eggs are blue?
I should have said, these were tiny, less than 1 cm long 🤔 @joanboston
I’d say a finch it definitely looks like a finch nest...perfectly formed....
The inside of the nest is amazing isn’t it. It’s almost white! @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Cute little #nest.
They look very similar to a finches egg, possibly Goldfinch . Lines its nest with moss and wool, hair.. Their eggs are about 20mm with markings similar to what i can see. Should see activity to identify soon..
Hope this helps http://voice.gardenbird.co.uk/bird-egg-identifier/amp/
We’ve still got one in one of our trees....I left it incase it wanted to come back..and yes they’re amazing 👌🏼
Thanks for that Mark. The nest certainly looks like the goldfinch one. The eggs were very small but I agree they’re very similar. I’m not going to be going up there again soon but will try and watch from the ground and see what visits 👀 @solly1961
It’s just perfect isn’t it Susan @novicegardenlover
How lovely, I hope you get to see them ❤

30 Aug 18 • They may not be huge but they are definitely #kiwi fruit 🥝 #kiwifruit
Never mind the kiwis...(although they’re very nice!) is that sunshine and blue skies?! 🤔 keep them there won’t you?! 😉
Morning Hun yes keep those blue skies I will be on my way in 4 hrs time 👍😄😎🌞
It’s about time we got them back if I may say so Rachel! 😉 @rachelbrooks
It’s looking good for you Keely ☀️😊 @Keely

18 January 2018 • I kid you not! Just wish I’d harvested them before they froze - I just didn’t believe they’d be so delicious. OK they’re only the size of a large cherry tomato but hey, it’s a kiwi! 😊🥝🥝🥝😊
Congratulations great job!!! I’d love to be able to go in my backyard and get fresh kiwi! There’s this coming fall, you’ll b a success😉🤗🤗
Thank you! I never believed it would actually fruit and bought it as much to grow up a wall - it’s extremely vigorous... Next year I’ll get the ladders out 👍😊 @terrimclaughlin
Woohoo, well done Jacqueline 👍👍
Thanks Jane! To say I’m shocked is an understatement. I thought they would be hard and inedible but it tasted lovely 🥝😊 @pelly
Had a look at it and wondered where you have it as it’s only just frost hardy, and wow, does it get big!! 😍😍
Exactly! I don’t know if you remember but as you come into the yard if you’d turned left there was a barn on your left? It’s growing up the gable end wall so gets lots of wind and rain but is south facing. The blueberries are in pots underneath. As for getting big, it seems to have liked being pruned 😂😂 @pelly
Yes, I remember seeing the barn, but to be honest I was mostly looking for you when we arrived. 😂😂
😂😂 @pelly
Wow they look gorgeous I’ll have one of those...🥝🥝
I’ll pop one in the post Elaine 😉 I’m sure it will survive the letter sorter 🥝💥😂@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Thanks Lin 😊😊 @linfoster

I have no idea how big they will grow or even if they will ripen and be edible, but...we appear to have kiwi fruit 🥝🥝🥝 #gyo
Fantastic Jacqueline @awomanonabike there's hope for mine after seeing yours fruit have had flowers ages ago but no fruit as yet will keep my fingers crossed 👍
Oh how exciting, I hope they are edible for you 💚💚💚
Yeah!
Oh I hope so Suzie. At least you have flowers - they're the first step 😉 @jadojado29
I am very excited. We've had it a few years and left it to do its own thing. Had to cut it back a bit earlier in the year and seems that did the trick, as it benefits from regular pruning 🤔 So it's more by luck than judgement 😂 @pelly @LyndaClack @jonners73
I have more hope now, had a Jenny for 9 years, no flowers, but moved so getting much more sun, next year maybe. How hard did you prune it?
Some long shoots were pruned back almost to the main stem Aly. The attached task on here goes into clear detail about how it 'should' be done. Ours is on a SW facing wall - not protected but very sunny (when the sun shines, that is 😉😂) @thehardygardener
Thanks much for the advice, will read then move Jenny west .
Good luck! If it's getting more sun hopefully next year will be better 🤞🏻👍🏻😉 @thehardygardener
Bit like me, Mon the sun!
#kiwifruit #actinidia
When the owner of Inglefield Plants in Staveley told me not to worry and this kiwi vine was self-fertile and I would definitely get #kiwifruits he never told me how many.... If I picked them all I would have at least 6 baskets full #kiwi #actinidia-deliciosa in #Cumbria #ikidyounot #gyo
Wow, nice haul!! @awomanonabike #fallharvest #freshisbest
Wow!
Amazing haul 😍 Is that a conserve or a jam you've made? 🤔
Wow!
Right Jenny is getting shown this, am amazed
Thank you 😊@saco
That was my reaction when the leaves dropped and I saw what they were hiding 😃 @lesliecole49
It’s jam Jane. And it’s good. Reminds me a bit of gooseberry jam 🤔 @pelly
Yup! Just what I said 😃😂 @novicegardenlover
It is outside growing against a southwest facing wall so warmer than elsewhere in the garden but also gets all the wind 🥝 Funnily enough I think this variety might be called ‘Jenny’ as apparently it’s the only self-fertile hardy variety 😊 @thehardygardener
Goodness me that’s amazing....I wouldn’t have thought out climate suited them, how old is it...
