Ficus carica 'Brown Turkey'

Do you like figs? Do you have a sunny wall? Living in #Cumbria, when we first planted a #fig I never thought we would actually get to eat any… 😋

Just bought one of these, it's about 8" high, figs might be a while off 😂😂

If you’ve got a protected sunny spot and don’t spoil it, I’m sure it won’t take long. We bought a second one in the spring to put where the madly out of control kiwi was. It’s about a foot high and already has some little fruits on it 🤞 @hebelover

Ooh I bet, fresh figs are amazing. I do have one Jacqueline, but it’s in a pot and always suffers in the heat, I’m planning on taking it to the allotment and planting it there 👍🏼😀

I’m sure you already know this but when you plant it you could keep it in its pot but with the bottom cut off as they like to have their roots restricted. Ours is in a corner between two walls, basically planted in rubble and it loves it 🙄😂 @sieveheadsarah

Yum! We have had a good harvest this year too, (those we saved from the wasps! 🙄)

I didn’t know that Jacqueline, but I do know they grow fast and can get huge, I’ll definitely do that, thanks 👍🏼😀

I’m allergic to wasp stings (since last September) and since then we have had 11 nests treated! Maybe that’s why we’ve had such a good year 🤔🙄 @jerseylily

The tiny little figs are still holding on Jacqueline, the exact same thing happened last year though, I should know better and keep my eyes on it and even give it more water 🤨

11 May 2018 • Look what the postie brought 😊 This is tinged with sadness though, as the one we have already had just made it high enough to get light from over a wall & give us figs, when someone jumped off the wall onto it and broke most of the trunk... OH was so sad this seemed the best solution 😍 #gyo

I know. Me too Charlotte & Sophie. We had had the other for years from being tiny in a tiny pot but it took a long time for it to reach the top of the wall - and hence the light - and we just didn’t want to have to wait all that time again. I think it will be worth it... @charlotte @Soph1e
