It is grey and wet here today but this fabulous plant doesn’t care 💛 #hamamelis-mollis #hamamelis
I suspect plants of this sort actively enjoy such weather...
I think you’re right Eileen! It’s been absolutely glowing 😎 @emch
Very pretty Jacqueline 💛
Thanks Rich, they’re wonderful at this time of year aren’t they 😍 @richard.spicer.7906

A bit of sunshine on a dull winters day 💛 #hamamelis #hamamelis-mollis
Looking very pretty
It is wonderful to have on these grey days @sharonhayden
Don’t worry Jacqueline it’ll soon be Spring 🤞🏼
It’s perfect for this time of year Laura @columbiariver

It’s hard to capture just how much this #hamamelis is glowing, even on quite a dull day 💛
I just love these shrubs it’s glorious 💛
What should I do with a hyacinth once its flowered
Thanks Michelle, me too. If I had room I’d have one of the ones with dark orange flowers too 🧡 @mich
I’m not the best person to ask to be honest Tony as I’m not their biggest fine so mine, when I have them, go on the compost heap! Try looking them up either by using the plant search or look at #hyacinth 👍 @tonygarner
Let the leaves die right back then plant them in the ground @tonygarner that’s what I do with my forced bulbs they come up every year
Thanks Michelle 👍 @mich
I’ve put a comment for @tonygarner on my post, Jacqueline. 👍😘
Thanks Barbara 😊 @jacaranda

It’s time for the #hamamelis to shine 💛 And it does. It positively glows at this time of year 😃
Here’s mine Laura. I got it when my mother died and it is nearly always in flower around the time of the anniversary, so there are extra reasons for it to make me smile 😊 @columbiariver
Thanks Laura ☺️
Love this, I must see if there is a compact variety as most of them are too big for my garden 💛💛💛
Incredible 💛💛
I’m sure there are Jane. Laura mentioned that there are dwarf varieties though I don’t know any names. Do you Laura? @pelly @columbiariver
Lovely plant - I don’t see any around near me - perhaps they need a hard frost 👍🏻🤗
It’s hard to capture just how bright it is Rula. It’s in quite a dark corner and just glows 😃 @sabbanrula
It is isn’t it Sharon. 😍 I’m not sure. 🤔 I thought they grew pretty much anywhere @sharonhayden
RHS says that they can drop their flower buds in the autumn and winter if they have dried out in the summer, perhaps that’s why you’ve not seen any near you 🧐 https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/popular/witch-hazel/growing-guide @sharonhayden
Love this Jacqueline, another plant for my list 😃
Glad to be of service to your garden Sarah (see what I did there? No beer in the mornings for me 😉😂). I can see mine from the kitchen window and it is so lovely to have something so bright to see on all these dull, wet winter days 😊 @sieveheadsarah

9 Jan 19 • I swear this wasn’t in flower yesterday 🤷♀️ It’s much earlier than last year, though is often in flower today 🌼💛🌼
Stunning shot!
Thanks Carole. It’s c-c-c-cold out there but the sun is shining which makes all the difference ❄️☀️❄️ @carolecuttingitfine
I was visiting Ashwood Nurseries before Christmas as they sell quite a few of these, and they were already in flower there too 🤭
I bought this as retail therapy 18 years ago after my mother died, so always register when it flowers. Last year it was so much later. If I had room I’d have more. I really like the red ones... 🤔 @richard.spicer.7906
Aw, what a lovely thought and with a special memory. The red ones are nice too, I’m hoping to get one soon. There is one I’ve been keeping my out out for one called ‘Vesna’ which is a yellow/orange one
Just looked it up. Very nice 😃 but I already have too many shrubs in my garden 🤔 Or do I? 🤔😂 @richard.spicer.7906
😂 😂 well you are making a new border if I recall 😉
Argh! Don’t tempt me 😱 @richard.spicer.7906

20 March 2018 • The plant that just keeps on giving 💛 I was doing some tidying in the garden and wondered where the perfume was coming from. I looked up and found that this was still flowering it’s little heart out 💗
Wow that’s Amazing Jacqueline @awomanonabike 😍😘
Great 👍 photo
It really is Suzie. I had no idea these little “flowers” were going to appear. And to still have scent too 😃💗😃@jadojado29
Thanks Sue 😊 @suerichards

6 March 2018 • This has flowered it’s socks off this winter but is finally turning - still looking great though, almost autumnal tones 🍂
Eekkk, can we have spring first Jacqueline 😂😂
😂😂😂 Sorry Jane. It just looks all golden and brown @pelly

4 February 2018 • ...and it’s still at it. I don’t think it has ever flowered so well or for so long 😍
What a stunning pic! #bestoffeb 💛💙💛
Absolutely gorgeous 😊
Beautiful Jacqueline 💛💛
Thanks guys 😊😊 We’ve had a lovely day here and the witch hazel has been an absolute stunner this year @rachelbrooks @katgreen @Jasonsparkes1 @pelly

23 January 2018 • @jacaranda If you look closely you can see the leafless rose that partly climbs into the witch hazel on the left. The crocosmia also use it for a bit of support later on too 😉
Thanks Laura. I can see it from the kitchen sink and you’re right, it is a sight for sore eyes 💛 @columbiariver
Mine has had years when it has been much later than others and years when the flowers haven’t lasted long at all. I suppose you pay more attention when there isn’t a lot else happening in the garden. I hope yours does bloom for you soon 😊 @columbiariver
Thanks for all your advice, Jacqueline. It’s certainly a lovely shrub for winter so I might be on the look out for one soon!!! @awomanonabike
You’re welcome Barbara 😊 @jacaranda
Phwoar! Look at that mossy wall! 😉💚
😂😂😂😂 I cant look at a stone wall now without thinking of you! @rachelbrooks
I actually have no answer for that! 😆😆 you’re welcome...🤔😂
What! Rachel Brooks has no answer 😜😂😉 @rachelbrooks
Enjoy the peace! It doesn’t often happen! 😜😆😆
🙄😂😂 btw, my ticket for Harrogate on the Sunday has arrived😍 See you there 😘 @rachelbrooks
Woohoo! 💃🏻💃🏻

23 January 2018 • Good morning from a blowy Cumbria. This has a much more delicate scent than the sarcococca and lights up a dark corner at this dark time of year 🌟🌟🌟
Like little Chinese lanterns 💛 and good morning Jaqueline 😚
Lovely!! And yet another for the Wishlist Jacqueline @awomanonabike 😃💕
Pretty aren’t they Vanessa @nessas
A worthy one Shona, for winter colour and scent 😊 @sho47
Lovely 😊
They don’t do much the rest of the year Jason but certainly make up for it now @Jasonsparkes1
Morning Jacqueline 🙋♀️🙋♀️
Thanks Elaine @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Morning hinny 😉 @pelly
Mighty fine!
Beautiful.💛💛💛

The witch hazel is still at it. So much better than last year but that was BGT (Before GardenTags) so it had no incentive 😊
Beautiful Jacqueline great pic 😊👍
Love the accolade to GT Jacqueline. @awomanonabike 😊😊
Thank you Jane & Jane! It seems like a long time ago. I look at my garden so differently now, don't you? @daisy-jane @pelly
That nod to @ukgardentags made me laugh but it's TRUE!!!! I think we see more and it's so good to share what we find with like minded peeps xx
Well after never having had much interest in gardening I have found GT and the amazing people on it such an inspiration it really makes me want to have a beautiful garden Jacqueline. @awomanonabike @daisy-jane @clipperty 😊😊😊
I certainly notice alot more going on in and around the garden especially this last year and having everyone on here just inspires me to be more colourful and creative with what I do in the garden so I totally agree with you Jacqueline and its great that we all have a place to share our gardens with each other Claudia @clipperty Jane @pelly 😘😊👍👍
Yep! Same here 👍🏼😊 haven't even minded the winter as I can see the changes and appreciate that the plants need a rest
I love it when my friends want to look around my garden & GT is like having friends round all the time 😊 @daisy-jane @pelly @clipperty @rachelbrooks
#chinesewitchhazel #hamamelis
@ukgardentags #gtpraise for you to see.
Wow. We love the fact that GT makes us all look closely at our garden and appreciate the beauty that's around us. We had a chuckle at Before GardenTags B.G.T. 😂 it's so true! Please let us know if you have any ideas on how we can get more people onto GT and appreciating the wonder of plants and this fab community 👍 Thank you @womanonabike @rachelbrooks @daisy-jane @pelly @clipperty @brightcolours

I don't normally post personal stuff here but... When my mother died suddenly several years ago I did a bit of retail therapy & bought this hamamelis, which was in flower at the time. Now, every year, as it begins to break into bud, I remember her, and I love it for that ❤️ #retailtherapy #wintergarden
Thanks Jason. And a plant can also make a perfect gift in the same way, can't it. @Jasonsparkes1
Aw, that must have been amazing. Well done! @Jasonsparkes1
It's a lovely way to keep their memory alive Jacqueline 💚 I also have several plants for that reason (including one - a cutting -that I brought back from my Nana's cousins' grave in France! 😬) it's comforting to have them in the garden. Also bought my friend a rose named after her Mum when she passed away - I think it seems special somehow...😘
How lovely Rachel. Plants really do have a wonderful power don't they? It's not just about what they look or smell like @rachelbrooks
They do. It's about the feeling and emotion they give as much as their look 👌🏼
It is wonderful to have been able to do that 😊 @gjones
Very special memories. Xx
#memory
More #winterscent I’m sure I post this every year but it’s because it is wonderful! When everything else is grey, it is glows and also smells divine 💚💛
Thats fabulous 💛
Thanks Julie. Because it has been a pretty mild winter here it’s been in flower for several weeks, since at least the 1st week of Jan. @juliesgarden
Oh wow , keep meaning to to get one , along with dozens of other plants 🤣🤣
I know the feeling but if you really do, then now is the time to go and choose one, while they’re in flower. If I had room for another, I’d get the one with burnt orange flowers… @juliesgarden
Ok thanks for the tip 👍🏻😘
Have fun! 😊🌼 @juliesgarden
👍🏻👍🏻
