Hippeastrum (Galaxy Group) 'Red Lion'

❤️ Season’s greetings! There isn’t much more festive for me than a red amaryllis ❤️ This is Red Lion and I think it’s trying to out grow the sansevieria #amaryllis-redlion

OMG that is very tall

So much taller than any of my hippeastrums, and they’re in the ground.

So do I Joan, or at least I did up until now! I think the trick is to feed them lots before a long period of rest. After it had flowered I repotted it in fresh compost and fed it regularly all summer. Then let it die down from September before repotting it again 🤓 @joanboston

At the end of October I bought two #hippeastrum One for me and one for my MIL. Mine has finally started to perform and not only does it have two stems but, look closely, it has three 😃 My MILs has one...this makes me feel very guilty but what can you do 🤷‍♀️ #hippeastrum-redlion

I noticed how straight they are too Jason. They’re on a sunnyish windowsill and I have turned them occasionally... Time will tell @hebelover
