24 May 2019 β’ Finally Planted this in its permanent home π‘ #blue-holly

Sounds like you've had a busy day Jacqueline ππ

Well my back aches so must have had π Cheers!π·π· @pelly

Is that my bedroom window? π€ also...look at that Hellebore!! ππ

No gardening for me today, I've been lambing, (not me personally), and not Herdies either, but I'll join you in saying chin chin π·π·

Iβve just seen...that took 20 weeks π Lovely little shrub though x x x

It is! And your little rascal π @rachelbrooks

Chin! Chin! π·π· Jane. I bet your back aches more than mine π @pelly

ππ I thought I should nurture it in the cold frame over the winter, as warmer and not as wet in there π @clipperty

Excuses excuses π xx

3 Nov 18 β’ Yes I know I already have lots of shrubs but this is Ilex meserveae, a teeny little holly. And itβs called βLittle Rascalβ so, given the circumstances, I couldnβt resist. (Will add to the encyclopaedia later.)

Nice shrubs!

Itβs a lovely little one Yash - and although it looks prickly, it isnβt π@kaporyash

πthis looks a really sweet little one. Would make a fab topiary ball I reckon π

Good thinking! Do you remember a heather falling over the end of the walled bed by your room? Iβm thinking of putting it behind that π€ @rachelbrooks

I donβt remember the Heather π€πbut thatβs a very fitting spot for it! I like that βΊοΈπ

Turns out it was in the encyclopaedia after all but only appeared once I had added βxβ to Ilex...It is a variety of blue holly which is a cross between I. aquifolium and I. rugosa which were originally raised in the USA #blueholly
My little rascal is the same. The leaves that are still there are very healthy, but lots are missing π§π€π #advice please This is a very small plant and I canβt believe itβs deer but what?!
Sorry to see what's happening Jacqueline, I hope you find out what's doing it π€π’
Iβm guessing it will recover when other sources of food for whatever is eating it, comes into leaf. I found evidence of a vole living in this bed a year or two back so maybe itβs that. Not much I can do about it π€·ββοΈ Keeping my fingers crossed π€ @pelly
Well at least you're looking after the wildlife ππ
Eek! π¬ how odd!
π Thanks for that Jane! Small mercies and all that ππ @pelly
Itβs a little rascal Iβm sure π @rachelbrooks
ππππ
I think itβs a Roebuck they have got into my back garden and had a good bunch this year too π€¦ββοΈ
Oh no! You too βΉοΈ I donβt want them to starve but do they have to pick on my new plants?! Whatβs different about this is that it is only 30cm high max and the highest leaves havenβt been touched. Something has nibbled the buds of a hellebore next to it and dragged bits under the heather, which Iβm told voles and dormice both do π€π§ @suerichards
