15 May 2019 • Short back and sides please 😉 #lavandulaangustifolia #lavender

Just read the GT instructions for #lavender-pruning which says prune hard after flowering. You might be able to do that in warmer climes but here in the North of England you’d risk losing it over the winter. Here, I trim away the flowers in late summer but prune hardish once I think we’ve had the last frost...

That explains an AWFUL lot 😂

Just seen where you live Lisa...Yup! 😉😂 @kelebek

Glad you added the info, I was thinking 'she's gone mad'🤪 🙈😆 makes sense now😊👍🏻

I probably have Celina but it seems to work! 😬 @cee

If it works for you then there's nothing mad about that👍🏻😁, gardening is all about trial and error. 😘

...if a bit late Celina https://www.yorkshirelavender.com/pages/how-to-grow-lavender @cee Here you go Lisa @kelebek

😂 Thanks Celina, absolutely 😊 @cee

Thanks Jacqueline, much appreciated 😊

I did it a bit late this year... The link above is worth a read 🤓 @DeborahBanks

Thank you Jacqueline that article has definitely helped. I'll stop panicking now 😊

18 Jul 2018 • The lavender is literally moving with all of the bees on it 🐝 💜 🐝#wildlifewednesday Also reassuring, as every year I worry that I have taken too much off the lavender and pruned it too late 🙄😊

Gawjus 💜💜 🐝🐝

Magic...💜🐝💜

Fabulous Jacqueline 💜💜🐝🐝

Wonderful! Am missing my lavender hedge and may be slightly regretting taking it out 😔

Thanks Keely. It has been amazing this year! @Keely

Isn’t it Elaine! @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

Thanks Jane. I’m so pleased with it @pelly

Well it’s easy enough to rectify...I’m sure you have somewhere you can fit a new one Rachel 🤔💜 @rachelbrooks

Ummm...🤔 not really 😬 they were in the front border which I totally rejigged last year (including some pink lavender, but it’s still only diddy!)

Pink lavender will be 💕 @rachelbrooks

Is it past the last frost? Who knows?! But I've been let loose with the choppers again 🙂

Hopefully!!☺

They will be fine 🙂👍

I've got mine to do Jacqueline. That's one hell of a haircut 😂😂😂

🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻@Diane76

@icedance I think so too. It was getting to the point where I thought if I left it any later I'd be chopping the flowers off 🤔😉😀

It was great fun Jane. First time I've been able to do the spring prune all in one go & not had to trim the individual plants 😀😀😀 @pelly

They are tough old birds 🐦 the English variety anyway normally do mine in March they will flush up nicely now and make the 🐝 happy 👍👍🙂

I'm sure you're right and I don't like it if they go all straggly @icedance

A good old chop now and a light one after flowering and you can keep them looking good for many years 🙂 be confident you have done exactly the right thing 👍👍

Pity the same can't be said for the chopper 😉😂😂 @icedance

😂😂😂 I'm sure that's not true 🙂

The winter jasmine is in flower but today I picked all of this #lavender

Wow! 😳 that's done incredibly well! 👏🏼 it seems months ago since I had lavender flowering!

I probably should have cut it back months ago, but couldn't bring myself to 😕 @rachelbrooks

Not whilst it's still bringing you flowers! 💜

Absolutely @rachelbrooks I'm rubbish at thinning seedlings too though - I don't want to kill any of them! 🌱🌿😩

Oh! I hadn't even thought of that! I won't be able to chuck any! 😁😁

I force myself to thin knowing those remaining will be stronger and healthier for it... @rachelbrooks @awomanonabike

#hidcote

Yes Katie...I will be following Steve's @lamaisonbleueoleron pruning guide for my lavender hedge so hopefully will have a lovely display next year! 👍🏼 @brightcolours

This may not look like lavender but from the smell of the leaves I'm sure that is what it is. I found it in between the paving & can only think I must have piled up some lavender prunings nearby. A good reason for not being too tidy in the garden, in case you need an excuse.
1 Aug 2019 • Even I thought I might have left it too late to cut this #lavender back (it was mid-May) but it doesn’t seem to have done it any harm 💜
Sorry for the delay in replying. Thank you, will do. Have not stopped since we moved in. Melanie
