🌬🌬🌬 Despite the howling gale I managed to get this photo of the many flowers on the #tulip-tree this year. Last year there weren’t any 🤔 #liriodendrontulipifera #liriodendron
Oh wow, is t that beautiful Jacqueline, I’ve never seen one before.
That is so unusual
Wow I’ve not heard of a tulip tree, it looks exotic ..
That’s gorgeous 😍😍
Fabulous
It’s fab isn’t it Sarah. Take a look around though as they are sometimes used as street trees 🌳🌳🌳 @sieveheadsarah
The flowers are a bit bizarre looking aren’t they 🌷🌷🌷 @joannie.a
Haven’t they? Do they grow where you are? They’re native to New England I think 🤔@gjones
Not at all! There are some in a nearby estate in Kendal. They’re originally from North America I think @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Thanks Julie. It was here when we moved in, but has grown a bit since then… @juliesgarden
Thanks Sharon 😊 @sharonhayden

Going! Gone! For once, sense got the better of me - our friend and neighbour, who is also a tree surgeon, pruning the tulip tree 🌳 #liriodendrontulipifera #liriodendron
I'm glad it wasn't you up there!!! 😱😱
😱😱😱 feel giddy from here!
Me too! @pelly @rachelbrooks
No no. No. 😳
Don’t worry Jennifer, he was only retrieving a branch that had been ripped off in the winds a couple of months back and removing some lower branches. It will look much better for it and hopefully be happier too 😉 @jennlamaye
@awomanonabike I don’t doubt that. But very glad other people are skilled in those areas. Not me. 😉
He’s amazing. This was the tallest tree he did but he pruned an acer, katsura, oak and beech as well. And was done by lunchtime! @jennlamaye
🙈🙈 that looks high!
That’s one of the reasons I didn’t do it myself! 😂😂 @Diane76

As promised, here are the flowers of the tulip tree - which survived the latest gales pretty unscathed 😊
They are soft enough that they can be a bit hard to spot! @columbiariver
They are very lovely 💛💛💛
Not your usual tree flower! @pelly
It's certainly not Jacqueline 💛💛💛
Gawjus 💛💚💛💚
Thanks Keely. They're a bit whacky aren't they 😊 @Keely
That's really unusual, not seen these before 🙂
The trees aren't that unusual. Once you start looking I'm sure you'll find one - I've seen them in the street in London - but the flowers, even though they are large, are quite hard to spot at first... 🔎🔎🔎 @rachelbrooks
I shall keep my eyes peeled! 👀👍🏼
Do Rachel & let me know when you spot one 🤔😊 @rachelbrooks
I thought it was fully hardy but I guess you need extra fully, fully hardy 😉 It's native to North Eastern America... @gjones

Shame I can't post video...I spotted some flowers on the tulip tree earlier. I'll take a photo if it survives this latest gale 💨💨💨
Oh bet that will be lovely when its in bloom but your right the winds today are crazy 🌪🌪🌪

Finally I have a day dry and still enough to take this branch off...and it's got buds. Oh well, try again next year!

I love how the #clematis is managing to cling into the #TulipTree despite the high winds we’ve had recently. When I remember the name of the clematis I’ll add it 🙄😂 #liriodendron #liriodendrontulipifera
