22 Apr 2019 • If you have a shady corner that needs brightening up you can’t get better than #mahonia-aquifolium The flowers are bright #yellow and it will grow quite happily in #fullshade This one gets no direct light at all, not even dappled #shade 💛💚💛
I was just looking for a plant to go in my shady area and these are gorgeous ❤️
Gorgeous pic. I love the little blooms, but I just can’t seem to like the foliage! 😏
It is very easy to go Emily and as tough as old boots! @flowerseed
But it’s so dark and glossy (and a bit spiky!) @rachelbrooks
I do love how they look like oxblood leather I have to say...😬
Are they winning you over?! @rachelbrooks
Hmmm...I try to like them, I really do...I think I need to accept they’re just not my kinda plant. (And then I feel guilty cause it’s not their fault! 🤣)
And the smell of honey? Does that not even do it for you? 🤷♀️😂 @rachelbrooks

28 Apr 2018 • It may have been hammered by the “Beast from the East” but it has not had any effect on its flowers 😊

27 March 2018 • The beast from the east certainly left its mark 👎
Ohh not again... We need to have a strongly worded discussion with BFS(beast from east)
😬 caught a couple of leaves on mine too !
😂😂 Indeed Shanker! @lordshankar
I hope it’s just a couple of leaves. I hadn’t realised quite how much damage it had done until this last few days 😡 @juliesgarden
😤😤
Got my topiary fir tree too think I could have lost it completely like you didn't notice untill last few days how bad it was but can't see no green left in bottom half 😥😥 hope your survives
Keep your fingers crossed Keely. Hopefully it will regrow. My garden is also littered with leaves torn from a laurel. It really was vicious... @Keely
I've given mine a grow more feed in hope it's one of a pair so don't want to loose it time will tell 👍 nasty beast it was 😲
Good plan! 🤞🤞 🌳🌲 @Keely
I have so many plant with leaves completely burned from the wind. It was far worse for the garden than the frost and snow. Watching and hoping😒
I don’t remember ever noticing so much damage from a cold wind, as opposed to just cold and wet. I hope they all recover Val @valjones-hughes

Wallflower? Not sure that I should really be letting this happen, but it looks so pretty 💛💚
deffo a #mahonia #oregongrape
I'd love a wall full of those! Not sure how things will turn out once they grow on a bit, but nature usually finds a way😊
Oops! Sorry Stephen, That was just my stupid sense of humour 😂 Deffo Mahonia Aquifolium @Hawick1514
I think nature has a way of pulling walls down 😂. They are coming from a mahonia on the other side of the wall, but it looks OK at the moment... @columbiariver @emve
😀😀😀
Well, yes... That probably would be bad😳
Still, I'd be extatic if my Mahonia self seeds one day in the future! I'd probably move them, though. Even if I do think they look good where they are right now...
You are right Mona but might just let it do another year... It just looks so nice 😊 @emve
Ah but it looks so at home there! ☺️🌼
#yellow #mahonia-aquifolium
