This is the last photo of my musella flower - as it has just dropped off 😢 It first started to flower on 5th August last year! 😲 (Today is 17th July)

Amazing, which bit can you eat?

Yes it does die but it has had lots of babies (offshoots), so all good 😊 @rachelbrooks

I don't know if anyone remembers this from last summer...but it's still at it. It has continued to open a little bit more all over winter. I have no idea what happens next... 🍌

@gjones The whole thing seems to be the flower. Every so often it just opens some petals so reveal more underneath 😊😊

My banana flower seems to be in suspended animation. I wonder what will happen to it once it warms up 🍌

Thank you @gailybob and @jeanette1967 I'm afraid I don't know where we got it from, possibly RHS Tatton, but it has had lots of babies so if you're ever passing Kendal I'd be happy to donate one to a good home :-)

I am very excited! Came home from a fortnight away to find what I think may be a flower bud on my banana, though fear the Cumbrian summer will not be long enough to find out. Updates to follow...

How exciting. Do you have a greenhouse or conservatory to bring it into if the weather is grotty n cold?

It lives in our cool living room all winter so can bring it in there but it isn't as bright as a conservatory. I have a greenhouse too so might put it in there, but where it is it is pretty sheltered. Fingers crossed for an Indian summer!

I'm still waiting for mine to flower I think it'll be next year now but I can't wait!

If it manages it, it will be the first time ever! I will post progress photos...
