When I'm not on my bike, you'll find me in my organic-ish garden in #Cumbria. Favourite plants? Wisteria, hellebores, peonies, philadelphus...

11 Apr 2019 • Hard to see but in the foreground is my favourite #fern that I thought I had lost after the drought last summer but it was just resting 😊🌿😊🌿😊 #osmunda-regalis

I was so angry with myself. I was doing that “well if they can’t survive in a bed without being watered they can just die” bit, but then I thought it had 😱 Gunnera has just about survived though think it might be a bit smaller this year 😉😂 @rachelbrooks

It’s bad enough when something dies of it’s own accord. You could kick yourself if it’s because you’ve done something to it. I remember pulling out a Clematis trying to unravel it from the climbing rose. Started off untwining it all patiently and then lost my temper and then nearly cried because I thought I’d lost it. I was over the moon when it started shooting up again the following year! Phew! 🙈

😱😱😱 Unravelling clematis is the riskiest activity in the garden... Thank goodness you got away with it @rachelbrooks

I’ve just looked back through my photos and have never posted a picture of it in full flow but it is wonderful. I think it is my favourite fern. I am so glad it is still alive. I almost dug it up in the autumn but a) I’m too idle and b) I read that they can become dormant when stressed @rachelbrooks
