A damp start to the morning here. We’ve not had as much rain as I had hoped but the plants have loved it 💜
Just for a change I could offer you some of mine ☔ Those poppies are huge 💖💖💖
Absolutely beautiful 👌🏻💞
We’ve had the wettest winter followed by the driest spring 🙄 so yes please, do! They are aren’t they. There were some in the garden when we moved in but this one I got at Harrogate. They don’t last long but they make up for it with impact 😃 @pelly
Thanks Joanne 😊 @flan1971
So pretty Jacqueline 👌😯
They certainly do. Mine are a bit late as I only scattered the seeds a few weeks ago 😍
Thank you Pauline. I have finally started to actually think about where I plant things and it seems to be paying off 😉😂 @flof1952
I love the picture it’s #frameworthy 💕🤍💕
Gorgeous poppies ! I missed mine this year . I have had them come out for the last ten years and this year they never appeared . I don’t know why but they were missed .! Anyone any ideas . They were always so strong and a beautiful addition to the garden
Oriental poppies are perennial Jane. I’m not as lucky with the annuals but will keep trying as I would love them to self seed 😃 @pelly
Thank you Elaine ☺️ That’s very kind of you 😊 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

26 Jun 2019 • I’ve only been away a fortnight but whoosh! A combination of lots of rain and then warmth and everything has grown. It’s like a jungle out there. What have I missed? 🤔 So much to catch up on and so much to do 😃 I almost missed these but there’s a couple of flowers still to open 💕
Well isn’t that just luscious?! 💕🖤💕 And do I spy little burgundy, velvet, protuberances in the centre?! 🤭🙊😉🤣
💕💕💕
Isn’t that wonderful!
It is and you do! I’ve always liked the look of this one but haven’t ever grown it before and it’s fab. So many flowers on one plant 🌸🌸🌸 @rachelbrooks
It really is Val. So glad I didn’t miss it @valjones-hughes
I’ve never had much luck with them but I may have to try this...
Definitely worth a punt. It has burgundy, velvet protuberances after all 😉🤣 @rachelbrooks
Sounds firkling marvellous! 😆😉
It's beautiful Jacqueline, we were only away five days and I couldn't believe how the garden had taken off 💕💕
🙈😉😂 @rachelbrooks
I got it from Harrogate last autumn Jane. So pleased with it. It’s a wonderful/overwhelming time of year 😉 @pelly
This may not be the biggest or blousiest of the #oriental-poppies but it makes up for it with such a gorgeous colour and always so straight 💗 #papaver-orientale #papaver-orientale-pattys-plum #pattysplum
Gorgeous 💖❤💜
Thank you. I think so too 💖 @hebelover
They are gorgeous can I ask do you have to dead head them ? I’ve got Poppy’s for the first time this year, bought from a market so no care instructions
I don’t know if you have to but I do. I usually just chop the whole plant down to the ground once it starts getting tatty. The new leaves appear fairly quickly and I’m told you can sometimes get a second flush of flowers, but I never have 🤔 @loveofplants
Oh thank you so much my dogs tail knocked my flower off my first one to come out I was devastated 🤦🏻♀️
Oh dear but don’t worry, they will only get better every year and mine have self-seeded too 👌 @loveofplants
