Hi Barbara, I think we need a new hashtag #will-it-make-it? It is 27th October and this is the first flower on my #passiflora-incense 😳 An improvement on last year but even so… @jacaranda
If it's anything like mine it will, it's still full of buds. Hard to believe it at this stage of the year 🤔
I do hope so Jane. Last year it didn’t manage any flowers at all 😢 @pelly
🤞🤞🤞
Most definitely, Jacqueline 👍 I have quite a few that would fall into that category 😂😂
It's fascinating that it's the same all around the world. It used to be that you could mostly trust dates for your garden, now it requires studying trends and stats, on top of checking forecasts obsessively @jacaranda @awomanonabike @pelly
What is also strange Pasch, is that it is taking until now to even think of flowering in the first place 🙄😂 @geistQC
Perhaps we were better off when we all knew you could not grow passion flowers in this country because all the "experts" said so and we just did not even try.😆
😂 You’re probably right but oh Joan! When it does flower it is 👌 @joannie.a

Seriously Passion flower. You’ve had all summer and you decide, in the last week of October, that it’s time to flower 🙄 What am I going to do with you?! 🤔 #passiflora-incarnata
It's so beautiful Jacqueline ....worth the wait I'd say 👌💜
Thank you Pauline, it is lovely but we will be getting our first frost soon... 🙄 @flof1952
Great photography, Jacqueline, and a beautiful flower 💕 I wish they would grow in my garden! 😢😘
Thanks Barbara. This is in a deep pot on my balcony. It gets loads of sun all summer but the sun disappears below the roof of our neighbours house about now and doesn’t reappear for months which I think is why it is slow to get going 🤔 @jacaranda
You must be incensed 🤣
🙄😂 @sharonhayden
It's an incredible beauty now! Better late than never 💘😍
Its such a shame though Shelley, as there are lots of buds but I doubt many will open now 😢 @ShelleySnyder
I must have another go at growing one, Jacqueline. They’re such unusual flowers 😍
I agree! I hate when that happens! I always think it's my fault!🤦♀️ 💘😍
They are wonderful and I have never managed to grow one in the ground but, apart from its tardiness, this is doing fine 🤞 @jacaranda

28 Oct 2019 • It’s wrapping up time. This Passion flower hasn’t flowered this year, I think because it was so late coming into growth. So, I’ve wrapped it up so it stays all cosy over the winter and springs into life much earlier next year 🤞 #passiflora #passiflora-inscense #rhodochiton
One plant I’ve always wanted to grow. 😊
I thought I’d lost it as, although it is the hardiest, it didn’t appear until 30th June. It was fantastic last year though. Scroll left as I posted lots of photos! @mojo
It was certainly a star last year Jacqueline, maybe it just decided to have a rest this year 😀 I’m going to research the best place to plant them and order one for next year 😃
I hope so Mo as it really was a star. Good luck! 😊 @mojo
Impressive wrapping 👏👏👏
Thank you ☺️ Well it’s quite visible from the house so I thought I’d wrap it in hessian on top of the bubble wrap - not quite as ugly 🤔😂 @suerichards
I might wrap mine this year as I've lost two over winter 👍👍
What do you use for your wrapping? I need to protect my cabbage tree this year. I've got a fleece cover but wonder if it might need something more. I need to check the size of it too. That's a job for tomorrow 😊😊
I wrapped the pot in giant bubble wrap then wrapped some hessian round it just to make it look slightly more presentable 😬 @midnightgardener
I thought yours was in the ground Jane? 🤔 @pelly
@womanonabike Ah I see. Where did you get the giant bubble wrap from please? Internet possibly?😊😊

30 Jun 2019 • This may not be the most beautiful photo but it makes me inordinately happy 😃 I thought I’d lost my #passionflower-incarnata over the winter but decided to leave the dead stems so that the #rhodochiton (that did survive 🤷♀️) had something to climb up, but...look closely... 💜
Yay👏
That really is something to be happy about 👏🏼👏🏼
🙂🙂🙂 aren't plants amazing
I’m reeling that your purple bell en...vine survived! 😯👏🏼 Double whammy! 👍🏼
👍👍 yey
Yay indeed Denise 😃 @Denise16
I have kept checking Val but really didn’t expect to find anything. I am soooooo happy 😄😃😃@valjones-hughes
It almost had me there too 😉😂 Very clever @charlotte
Yey! Yey! 😄 @Keely
Me too! It really shouldn’t have but it has - only after I ordered some more babies though, typically 🤷♀️ @rachelbrooks
You’ll be overrun with purple bell ends 🙊😆🤣😉

27 Nov 18 • Will it? Will it! Suspect it needs a bit of sun... ☀️ @rachelbrooks
It’ll be open in no time then...as we know you have lots of sun in Cumbria! 😉 ooh come on little flower...you can do it! 🌸💕🌸
When I went through my photos the other week mine was flowering into December (the one that died 😞). My Incense is looking slightly better now I've moved it though, so I'm a bit more hopeful for next year. Yours has done so well 😍😍
Sadly the sun, which of course is my constant companion up here, can’t get above our neighbour’s roof now until February 🤷♀️😎 @rachelbrooks
Oh I hope it does well for you Jane. Fingers crossed @pelly
How inconvenient! Can’t you ask them to move their roof? 🙄🤣 PS love the fact you corrected your comment for the apostrophe! #mykindagal 😉😘
I know! I have suggested they convert it to a bungalow but they weren’t keen 😂😂 I can’t help myself. I saw a post last night of someone’s new logo and I had to stop myself pointing out that it needed an apostrophe 😱 @rachelbrooks
Can’t think why! 😉 haha yes, me too! 🙈🤐 #pedantsrule 👍🏼😉

Not looking 😫😫
Perfection! 💜
Oh I’m so sorry Jane. #theresalwaysnextyear 👍💜 @pelly
😬 Couldn’t help myself when I spotted that it was still producing new flowers @rachelbrooks
🤞🤞👍👍
Who could blame you?! You post away! 💜😘

15 Oct 18 • It feels like there may have been a frost last night but it hasn’t stopped more flowers opening. I hope you don’t mind me posting another photo 💜
Absolutely beautiful Jacqueline .....super photo 👌💜
Course not!💜
Thank you Pauline 😊 @flof1952
Thanks Denise, it’s only 2 days since I posted the last one... 😉😂 @Denise16
I will be soooooo happy if I can keep it over the winter 💜😊💜 @scaryskates
Thanks Jason 😊 I think there was a brief frost here last night🤔🤔 It certainly felt cold enough in the evening and one of my cannas is now drooping ❄️❄️❄️ @Jasonsparkes1
Wow what a vibrant colour 💜💜💜
Beautiful 👌
It’s not bad is it 😉😂💜 @Keely
Thanks Benjamin 😊😊 @bensgarden
Gorgeous 💜💜💜

14 Oct 18 • The flowers have been in hiding thanks to Storm Callum but a little bit of sun and here we go again #latebloomer #passiflora-incarnata
Like she’s stretching after a nice sleep! Just love the colours on this one 💕💜
She's beautiful. I've moved mine now, it doesn't look any healthier so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed 💜💜
Or being blown to bits 😉🙄😂 @rachelbrooks
I’ll keep mine crossed too Jane 🤞🤞@pelly
That too! 😂😂

12 Oct 18 • It’s a bit blowy so this is the best I can do but here you go Rachel. I’m afraid the flowers are a bit shy today but there are lots of buds still @rachelbrooks
How do you protect yours over winter? Do you cut it back?
This is its first year so I haven’t yet but will probably leave it and cut the dead bits back in the spring. I don’t want it to grow only to have any new growth killed by the cold 🤔 @Ryan180680
Fab! 👍🏼 obviously loves it in that spot and that’s a lovely mèlange too! 💜💕💛
I might put rhodochiton and nasturtiums in there again next year as it really has been fantastic 💜🧡 @rachelbrooks

18 Sep 18 • There was just one flower open at the weekend and it was hiding. Now, despite the wind and rain, there are lots 😊💜
#passiflora-incarnata #purple
I so wish I could grow these 😢😢 @awomanonabike
It's gorgeous 💜💜💜 I hope this one is a survivor 😍😍
I’ve failed before Barbara but this is in a very tall pot on my balcony which is west facing and quite protected so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Incarnata is the most hardy of all of the passiflora so maybe worth a try 🤔 @jacaranda
Oh I do too Urszula 😟 @ublaszko
Added to the wish list, Jacqueline 👍 and I might try it in a pot 🤞 @awomanonabike 😘
I wish I could tell you for definite that it will do fine but I’m very optimistic 🤞🤞 I only got this in the spring and it has loads of flower buds on it @jacaranda
Oh that’s just beeeeutiful! 💕💜
Thanks Rachel, I think this is the flower that we could only see from inside at the weekend. It’s a stunner isn’t it @rachelbrooks
It most certainly is!! Think I will have to get this one! 🙈
😂😂 You are incorrigible 😉😜 @rachelbrooks

7 Sep 18 • 😬😬😬
Eeeeew!! That's interesting, also very pretty leaf!
The heart shaped leaf is from a different plant (rhodochiton) which I put in the pot at the same time, as I wasn’t exactly expecting much from the passion flower as it’s just its first year 💚 @pottybird42
Ready to pop!
I hope so. I really wasn’t expecting any flowers this year so if it makes it I will be thrilled @ublaszko
Not much longer now. I look forward to seeing what colours it will be. I used to think passionflower came in two colours white with purple and all whute but now I'm discovering all these different varieties 😍😍
The reason I chose this one was not for the colour but because it is the hardiest of them all. I’ve tried growing standard passion flower before but lost it in our cold wet winters. So really hoping I can keep this going in a deep pot in a sheltered spot... @ublaszko
Yes, it's the wet cold that's the enemy of our plants. I was surprised mine survived this year because I pruned it harshly in February (after some misguided advice 😅) and the spot it's in is shaded in winter and I had the impression it was waterlogged too 😶 I think maybe it helped that I've been mulching it thickly for the past 2 years.
Well done Urszula. A thick mulch will certainly have made a difference but you’re right it’s that combination of wet and cold that’s he killer @ublaszko
Like the look of this one 💜
Hopefully it will be open by the time you get here. Just need a little ☀️ 😎 @rachelbrooks
I’ll try and bring some with me! 😉

18 Jun 2018 • Really pleased with how this is doing, it’s growing much faster than I expected. I’m going to have to think about how to support it once it gets to the top of these spirals 🤔
How’s yours doing Jane? @pelly
You’re gonna have to get some scaffolding....🤭
😂😂 There are wires going across in front of the roof (just out of the picture) but how to get it up there 🤔 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
Can you (or a handy helper) reach the wire? If you can get to it, tie some twine to the wire, stretch it down to the pot and peg it down then the passion flower will climb up the twine to the wire.
Thank you Laura and Vivien. I was thinking of tying twine to the spirals but of course pegging it down to the pot would work (& look) much better. The wires are only a couple of feet beyond the spirals as the roof slopes down here, like half a gable end, sort of 🤔😜 @columbiariver @sadieberg
It's a little it behind yours Jacqueline, but I'm happy with it's progress, I have two shoots at the moment
It's a bit behind yours at the moment, but I'm reasonably happy with it's progress. I have high hopes for it as I'm sure you do too Jacqueline 😍😘
Jobs a guddun 👍🏻
Oh I have high hopes too Jane, literally! 😬 @pelly
Just as soon as it stops raining. Goodness are we gardeners never happy? I’m sure I was complaining about how dry it was only a few days ago 😂 @sadieberg @columbiariver
Oh me too, for your sake Laura 🤞 @columbiariver

😂😂😂 Look what had arrived while I was out Jane & replying to your post! @pelly
Talk about coincidence!! I got mine from Hayloft, ordered it back in February I think, that’s why I’d forgotten about it, anyway that’s great, we can compare notes 👍😂
I did too. I remembered that I had ordered it but had forgotten which type or where from 🙄 😂 They may have grown up together 😜 @pelly
Aww, sweet 😂😂😂
They must for sure be related to each other Jacqueline @awomanonabike & Jane @pelly will be interesting g to watch them both grow up 😘
I’m sure they are Suzie. Sisters even! 👭 @jadojado29 @pelly
This conversation is getting slightly bizarre, they might even be twins @awomanonabike @jadojado29 😂🤣🙄
Oooooo Twins I wonder if they will be identical Twins Jane @pelly Jacqueline @awomanonabike 😜😂😂😘
😂😂 Ooh twins. Definitely. Separated at birth though 😜@jadojado29 @pelly
Well mine is planted up now and it’s certainly in the wrong place (north easterly) but it’s very protected so time will tell @awomanonabike @jadojado29 🤞🤞
You are much further south than me Jane so hopefully it will do really well. 😊 @pelly
Is the passion flower hard to grow ? What sort of difficulties did you run into ? 😁
Yay! It made it 🎉 #passiflora-incense
You need a little something to celebrate🍸
Absolutely Joan! 🥂 @joannie.a
Oh wow fabulous Jacqueline 💜💗
Thanks Laura. It obviously likes to live life on the edge 😉 First frost will be soon… @columbiariver
Thanks Julie. It is pretty fab 💜 Just stressful waiting to see if it will open before the first frost 🙄 @juliesgarden
#spectacularflowers
Fabulous colour
Lovely and exotic bloom!
