Not the best photos but gives you an idea of how brutal I am when I prune this #spiraea 😳 But a bit of fish, blood and bone and a nice compost mulch and it will be right as rain in no time 😃
Ooh that’s interesting! I cut mine by about half, I’ll do it again tomorrow. Thankyou
I only do it alternate years Joan but it seems very happy with this approach 😊 @joanboston
I don’t think I did mine last year Jacqueline
👍 @joanboston
Since I moved mine to a shadier place it’s not done very well, how much sun does this one get?
It gets sun all morning in the winter but just early morning in the summer, so officially I’d say partial shade 🤓@sieveheadsarah
I’m thinking it’s not getting enough sun, looks like it’ll be getting moved again 😱
What a treat! A new view for it 😉 @sieveheadsarah
I feel sorry for it Jacqueline, I can here it now yelling at me “not again” 🤣😂

10 Apr 2019 • It’s just 6 weeks since what might have seemed a fairly brutal prune, but look at all those new shoots 😃😊
How did you get on with yours Celina? @cee
Yep, I have new shoots too...although it still looks a bit sparse🤔.🤞🏼 it will fill out over the next few weeks Jacqueline @awomanonabike
It will! It’s such an exciting time of year 🌱🌿🌱🌿🌱 @cee

26 Feb 2019 • It may seem brutal but #spiraeajaponica really benefit from being pruned hard in early spring. They flower on new growth and there will be lots of that soon 😃
Ooh I love giving things a good hack back! Oops prune..! 😉 makes me cited for what’s to come!
Was thinking if I should be cutting mine back yesterday, I'll get on and hack away after lunch 👍🏼😀
Wouldn't be without mine, just running out to give it a snip 🏃♀️🏃♀️
Hhmm, I cut mine back but looking at yours I might give it another go🤔 @awomanonabike
What app do you use? Pictures look excellent. I can't find an app to do that! Bit of a technophob...
Me too. There is something very satisfying about a good pruning session @rachelbrooks
I completely forgot to do it last year so thought I should get on and do it once it had occurred to me to 🙄 Did you have a good hack? @sieveheadsarah
Mine needed more of a lop than a snip Kathryn 😉 @katgreen
As long as there are some buds you can go as low as about 6” and it will love you for it Celina @cee
Hi Dermot, I use Pic Collage. I used the free version for ages (and several others) but eventually coughed up the price of the advert-free version as I really like it. It’s very easy to use too 👍 @Froggy45
Thanks very much, I'll try that. Seems fool proof enough...😀😀
Just a reminder to myself that #spiraea-japonica really does like to be pruned hard. Scroll left to see how hard… #spiraea-pruning
Wow! It’s really paid you back well! 💕
It obviously loves having a short back and sides 😂 @kez001uk
Thank you 😊 @gjones
@awomanonabike if only we all looked so good after a drastic haircut 🙈🤣
I quite like the idea of sprouting pink flowers from my head too 🙃 @kez001uk
Wow, it’s looking great, I moved mine to a sunnier place and it’s much happier. 👍🏼
You said you were going to. I’m glad it didn’t complain 😊 @sieveheadsarah
@awomanonabike 😂🤣😂 would be a look, that’s for sure 😛
