Definitely one of the best #autumnflowering plants there is #newenglandaster #symphyotrichum
What a beautiful colour 💗💗💗
They’re wonderful aren’t they Jane. They are very tall but don’t need staking which is always a bonus IMO @pelly
Theyre fabulous 😍
Tough as old boots too 👍 @hebelover
They are, I don't know what's happened to my two, they're in my plant list but they don't appear to be in my garden 🙄 Oh well, that's another shopping trip, how tiresome 😂
😂 I’m sure you’ll manage 😉 @pelly
Lovely I do love asters....💜
I’d like some smaller clump-forming ones as these are very tall and my others are spreaders! Any that you’d recommend Elaine? @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
The ones I grow are the apple blossom and duchess blue I love them and I have a rather nice purple one but they aren’t small clumping ones....
🤔 Will take a look @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

24 Oct 18 • I tried to identify this last year and presumed it was an aster. It is...but New England Asters are now called #symphyotrichum novae-anglia The flower spikes are almost woody, so it doesn’t need staking, and are about 5’ tall 💜🧡
I love that, and so tall too 💜💜
That's pretty I've always known them as Michaelmas daisy 💜💜
I love that it’s tall but I particularly love that it doesn’t need staking - my least favourite garden activity 😉😂 @pelly
Me too Keely but it seems that Michaelmas daisy covers all sorts of asters (that flower around Michaelmas, which is 29 Sep) and the aster family has been split, so lots are now classified as symphyotrichum... 🧐🤓😂 @Keely
I’m with you there Jacqueline 👍😂
Does it look anything like this Ash? Mine isn’t in flower yet this year but it’s tall and looks similar to yours @daisyrozanne
It does! The stem and leaves in particular and it doesn’t need staking either! Just a slight difference in petals- mine seems to have shorter but wider petals. But think they are a close match 💜💜💜
I love that this one doesn’t need staking as it’s right next to a path. I think there are lots of varieties of these. I should have more 😉😂 @daisyrozanne
Haha I agree, one is never enough... but then neither is two or three 😜😂💜
😂👍 @daisyrozanne

I don't know which variety of Michaelmas Daisy this is but it is a real stalwart. Just does its stuff every autumn without making any demands on me at all 🤔😊
I love purple in the autumn. It looks great with all the oranges and browns 🍂 🍁🍂 @Jasonsparkes1
Funky little flowers 💜
