I'm mostly into cacti, aloes, and other heat tolerant succulents, and more recently hoyas and some tropicals. Phoenix, AZ. USDA zone 9b, heat zone 11.

Dyckia 'Grape Jelly', cleaned up, bare rooted, and repotted with a Portulacaria afra v. prostrata and a couple unknown sempervivum babies that I'll have to scoop out and repot before next summer if they actually survive that long. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I just got this 'grape jelly' dyckia in the mail from Hirt's Gardens. Like really?? It's planted in pure peat, totally compacted, and REALLY with all those dry leaves?? And yes, that's a bent leaf. #notimpressed Do they even know how to succulent? It's my first order, and 3 of the 4 plants I ordered are disappointing. It's NOT what I expected from a well reputed grower. 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄

I've ordered from Hirts Garden many of times and have been always pleased with what I purchased, until recently... My last order was garbage and my plant died 2 days after I received it. 😞
