I FINALLY get to take these off the wishlist after snagging a few as part of a larger online order. I've never found them locally! 🤷🏻♀️ So of course now I won't be able to turn a corner at a nursery without bumping into one. 🙄 Question for anybody with first-hand experience with these: How do you encourage them to produce those huge red/purple thorns - stronger intensity of sun, or longer exposure? Or does it just happen regardless of lighting conditions? 🤔
I don't know how I know this, so don't quote me, but I think they make the thorns that color no matter what. They are further proof that #euphorbscanlooklikeanything
@docthrill aw, thanks! ☺️ I have to do the same with some of my plants. Others I have to move entirely from one location to another. My courtyard is really nice in the winter, with perfect sun, but in the summer it turns into a hot box, and the sun is insanely intense, so almost everything's gotta find a different home. 😩
Maybe try those sun screens you see in the garden departments, put up some misters for the morning and a box fan to move the air. Buy it a little at a time
@docthrill All good suggestions, but I'm just not into it. This isn't my Forever House, so I'm not inclined to put that much effort into something I'll be dismantling and doing repairs after sooner than later. Plus I've got too much other stuff going on, and it just isn't enough of a priority for me to tackle that magnitude of a project by myself, even a little at a time. 😓
@philstalder Cool, I'd love to see them if you do post them! I've always loved these. I've got these getting morning sun as well, like most of my Euphorbias. They all seem to want more, but it's the best I can do without it being too much. 🤷🏻♀️

@emch Sweet, that's a relief! Now I won't feel so pressured to find the EXACT right spot for these. Thanks! ✌️😁
I like it. You have great taste in plants. I have to keep rotating ours because they start to reach for the sun as they grow. The start taking a bow

I get it.
I think I have these too. They get morning sun and afternoon shade if I’m recollecting. I’ll post if I can find them or remember to. @beatnikcrab

I know it’s hard in our areas bc we get the cloudless blazing sun. @beatnikcrab
Well I could have swore I had these but I couldn’t find any. I must be going crazy or the squirrels took them. 🤣
