Anybody ever set out to re-pot a thing, and then end up repotting everything but that thing? That was how my day went. New additions here include an Echinopsis saltensis (front left) and a pair of Gymno saglionis (back). The oval pot (middle right) are all Gymno baldianum, and the rest are unknowns.
@emch the Gymno baldies and the dude peeking into frame on the bottom (it's some sort of night bloomer Echinopsis) have flowered. I just got the Echinopsis saltensis a few days ago, and the Gymno saglionis sometime in the summer. I'm hoping to see some blooms this spring! The weird guy with the big needles on the left has never bloomed (and barely grown) in the 3 or so yrs that I've had it. 🤷🏻♀️
@sunlovin that's AWESOME if you have an E. saltensis! They have the most GORGEOUS red blooms with black centers! I had to mail order this guy. I hope it survives! 🤞😳
Thanks, @philstalder ! Lately I've been trying to get at least one plant thing done every day, weather permitting, even if it's something small. There's always so much to do!
I hear that. I’m so far behind but I try a little here and there. I think a lot of us bit off more than we can chew during the pandemic. You have a great collection. At least this spring we might have a lot of beauties to post hopefully. 😂
@philstalder unfortunately I can't blame the pandemic. I bit off more than I could chew long before then. 😅 Actually the pandemic slowed me down, as the local Cactus & Succulent Society cancelled all their monthly meetings, which cut off my primary source of bulk new plant acquisitions. 😆 Definitely hoping for a spectacular spring, though! I should start fertilizing soon.. 🤔
Ha. I should have known. I would be in your shoes too if I lived in Arizona. Like me with my tropicals from Hawaii, Tahiti and Fiji that I’ve had for years. I’m switching to cactus and succulents so it’s new to me. And vegetables. And California natives/drought tolerant. Lol 😂
@philstalder I started exploring tropicals in the past year or two. I'm keeping what's survived, but I'm a little bit over them right now. They're just not very happy to be here, and I'm not really into going out of my way to create a happy microclimate for them. I'm looking to re-simplify my collection! That's why the plants from the Cactus & Succulent Society were great. They were all locally grown, so there was no guessing whether they could survive!

But all super cool. Have they flowered for you?

Yep! Definitely 😁
The story of my life. But you get a lot done and it looks great. 🤩
Looks good! I think I have that Echinopsis Saltensis but I’m not sure. I also got 2 babies that look similar but not sure. 🌞
