Well you can keep a nice tray of water with gravel in it and rest your begonias on top of the gravel to keep it out of the water. This will keep the humidity around your plant around 50 percent or more. And some great grow lights over them and you can grow a lot of begonia types. Types: KitKat begonias, Begonia Rex Roachet, Begonia Rex Red Kiss, Begonia Rex Spitfire, and Begonia Mikado are all hardy begonias
Your tiger paws are a delicate begonia, you should put it over water as soon as you can, it needs high humidity for sure. If you run your heat of ac in your house, that really sucks the humidity from your house. A bathroom window is an awesome place, when you shower it make the perfect environment. Ryzome or tuber begonias are tropical plants and are not easy to care for in cold climates unless grown in climate controlled green houses
@docthrill Thank you for the tips! I hadn't been running the heater up until this recent snow but we're back to the 70s. I've been wanting an enclosed cabinet for some of the plants and these guys might give me the perfect excuse. 😆 But I'll move to the bathroom for now.
I tried rocks in my begonia pots and the rocks can damage the ryzome and stems and the plants did poorly. If you’re doing it to look good, try sand the plant will eventually cover all sight of the soil when there larger
Yes! I keep my rex on the windowsill in my shower. Ambient humidity is 5-10% (I live in AZ), but spikes to 60-80% during a shower, and drops back down over the next 2-3 hrs (I have a hygrometer next to it to keep track). I'm gearing up to graduate my pavonina and maculata from the greenhouse and try them in the shower as well. Agree abt the rocks. They're going to restrict the new growth. You can keep them for looks, but clear them away from the stems a bit to give the new growth some space.
Any craft store with a floral dept sells coarse sand in black & white (and possibly other colors as well) as vase filler. I think I've seen it at Dollar Tree as well iirc.
Yeah, I like it a lot
@docthrill I need more begonias! Do you know which do okay indoors without too much humidity?

Perfect place for it. I think @beatnikcrab is doing the same with her Begonia Rex

@docthrill @beatnikcrab Thanks! I'll try to find some sand.
