I pruned Lava because the leaves were all dying after I rubbed them with coconut oil😕 Do you guys think the leaves will grow back? #help #pruned #aralia 30 July 2016 photo taken

@alovealoe do you think I can recover this plant to how it looked before I hurt it with the coconut oil?

I don't have much experience with this species but if I was in your shoes I'd remove all of the leaves and hope it grows new ones. I've done this before with a different species (elephant bush) with success. I'm just not sure it would work but at this point you don't have much to lose.

@lifeonaroofterrace after coconut oil.. Same thing as the pachira plant! 😭😫 think this one will get better? (This is before I pruned all the leaves off bc they were all bad).

Well I guess coconutoil is banned from your plants now 😋. Just wait for a month i'd say. If there are no new buds by then I'd toss it to be honest. Too bad but lesson learned. If there are no leaves at all, only a stem, the plant has no chance to "breathe". But covered in oil same thing, clogged pores etc. Let me know how it does!

@lifeonaroofterrace So do you think I made it worse by cutting the leaves off? (Thanks for the help)

Well, the leaves did look pretty bad so i understand why you tried that. Just be patient, wait and see. Let the soil dry out just a bit before watering moderately. If the green stem develops new leaves it s still alive 💪 also it may develop a new green stem, which would be excellent also.
