These are doing really well. This is the biggest out of the 4 seeds I grew (thanks to @linfoster) the leaves are getting huge!! #foliagefriday 04/10/19 #hollyhock
@scaryskates it's the first year I've grown these. Are they perennials and supposed to come each year?
Oh that’s a shame @scaryskates
This will flower for sure next year👍 I've started some off from seed in the last 2 months in the hope they'll flower next year.thet are "short lived" perennials, but as Gary says, they can last several years, but will eventually fizzle out & die off.
I have lots of these - now I know what they are- but no flowers 😩
@sharonhayden they are biennial so don’t flower in their first year. So hopefully next year they will 😊
That’s confusing 🥴

#hollyhock #cerise #grownfromseed #seedlings Are these ready to start hardening off? Are they nearly ready to plant out or do I need to do anything to them first? 27/05/19
Not much risk of frost anymore so you could start hardening them off and then plant out in another week or two 😊
Great, this tray can go out during the day then. Free up a bit of space when I can plant them up as my marigolds and petunias for a start are still a bit behind!! Everything else is getting there, but they all seem to be growing slowly! Or I’m just impatient!! 😂 @ublaszko
Me too! I sowed more seeds a few days ago and I've been so impatient I thought they were never going to germinate 😁
Right they’ve gone out to play then! And looking at some of my other seedlings like alyssum, dianthus and Gazania, I think they’ll be able to go out soon too!! 👍🏼😁 @ublaszko
I tend to put mine on a windowsill and then leave a gap for the outside air to circulate around the seedlings. Perhaps you could leave the door ajar in your greenhouse during the day. I only do it for 10-20 minutes a day just to make them more sturdy.
I’ve been leaving greenhouse open for the past week or so because of the heat so this is the next step anyway I think 😊 @ublaszko
👍👍 My seedlings are still tiny so I'm keeping them indoors for now. They only have one pair of true leaves 😅 But they're annuals and intended for late summer interest.
@ublaszko yes they sound like my marigolds and petunias, staying inside greenhouse till they’re bigger.
So exciting! I just noticed my peppers and aquilegias (for next year) and asters germinated overnight 😄
Love that feeling! Noticed one of the extra zinnias I planted has germinated. 😁 @ublaszko
😆😆
