Developing my knowledge all the time. I love growing plants: barely any space on my windowsills, nor on my patio as it's full of pots. #renting.

@pelly @lexijane Well half time in the football seemed a good time to do it!, 😂 I scraped it and it did seem green and wet. I've beheaded it and left these short branches. Not sure the stem actually looks so good now. I've put cinnamon on the scrape and top too. 🤷‍♀️🤞🏼

It's just a wait and see time. I hope it survives for you 😊😊

I tend to agree with Jane, Alison. It’s a case of waiting & seeing. Maybe pot it on with some fresh compost or give it a feed?? 🤔🤔 @pelly

Yep good idea @lexijane I've not checked the root system, so that might be worth repotting it and checking them. Thanks for making me not admit defeat yet!! 👍🏼😂 @pelly

There is life in it top right teeny bud, my hardy one is very late this year to get going give it chance but do check roots incase there is vine weevil as that could be one of reasons 😮

Don't give up yet. My hardy fuchsia looked like four dried out sticks with only a tiny section of green underneath the bark but then suddenly there was one tiny bud and within a few days another growing from the ground. Now it has about 7 or 8 new stems, most growing from the ground. I didn't repot mine, just scraped some of the soil from the top, added fertiliser and topped up with fresh soil. Good luck! 👍👍

@ublaszko OK, maybe I'm being a bit impatient but I know it has usually started growing leaves and flowers by now! I'll hope it does decide to do something now it's had more of a prune. Everything I cut off was dead wood, so I'm hoping it can focus energy on the living!! 🤷‍♀️🤞🏼😊

Maybe it needs a shock therapy to wake up 😂😂😂 I was ready to give up on my fuchsia so I left it underneath my garden bench and forgot about it 😅 Only realised it it sprouted new shoots when I went to clear the pot and use it for another plant. If you're worried you won't get any flowers this year you could buy a bedding fuchsia just as a temporary way to enjoy the flowers ☺

@pelly @lexijane Well I've come home and scraped the bark! There is green there I think but I think the stems off the top of the standard are brittle. Should I prune it? Should I leave it a bit longer? #help #fuchsia-advice #advice

I should add that I know I should have brought it in over winter or covered it up but it had survived past couple of winters fine, so didn't think about it. Obviously this winter was harsher! 😡

If they’re brittle I would prune them definitely Alison 👍👍

I’d trim all the dead brittle stuff off & leave the fresh growth underneath. I didn’t bring mine in & thought I’d lost it. I’ve set myself a reminder to bring it in this winter🙄😂

@pelly @greenfinger14 @lexijane I think I'll give it a gentle prune, cutting off bits are definitely brittle but not go to mad! Thanks guys! 👍🤞🏼😊

Don't give up hope. I thought my climbing fuschia was dead but checked it this morning and there's new growth. So glad I didn't get rid of it @bluefox23

@pelly @lexijane @greenfinger14 @brighton There is still no sign of any shoots coming of this standard. Should I finally accept that it has died? 😞 On the +ive side, I'll have a free pot for new plants!! 😂

I don't really know what to say, if the scrape showed green it means that it's still alive. If it was mine I would cut it back to the bottom branches, put it out of sight but in partial sun and hope. I certainly wouldn't give up on it, but that's just me. 🤔🤔
