#advice I dug up these iris corms (?) they’ve not don’t much for a year or two but think they were cramped. A few have a shoot starting I think. Should I break them up individually, just replant them or do you think they’ve had it?? 23/03/19
Sorry, no idea. I only planted my first irises last year and 2 out of 3 rotted away. 😑 I mixed in vermiculite but instead of improving drainage it made the compost wet. I see no reason why you should get rid of your irises. They should last you for decades to come. Ask Ms Google how to divide bearded irises 😉 Just make sure you plant the rhizomes above the soil level and that they're not shaded by surrounding plants. 😊
Mine didn't flower last year so I'm waiting to see if they will this year...but maybe I should dig them up to investigate like you have🤔🤔🤔
I have replanted then now so will see if anything happens otherwise I’ll be rid. They did come from my mums house originally years ago. @ublaszko @belindah
Belinda, I'd leave them be and just make sure the soil around them is not soggy and that they're planted above soil level and not shaded by other plants. Last year was unusual and many plants didn't do what they were supposed to ☺ @belindah
I planted my iris in a pot so it can just do its thing until it's ready to flower and it's not in the main flowerbeds so I have space for other plants to flower in the meantime.
Ok ... thanks @bluefox23 @ublaszko ...I will see what happens. Thanks for your advice👍👍👍

Just found this #beardediris #iris #rhizome hiding and looks like I’ll definitely have leaves. Whether it’ll flower, time will tell! 24/03/19 @ublaszko @belindah
Keep an eye on moisture and sun levels it gets so you can figure out what works and what doesn't 😊👍 Have you had these long in your garden?
Urszula, they’ve been here for somewhere between 10 and 18 years!! I got them from my mum’s garden when I first wanted to plant something in the beds but it was a few years after we’d moved in. @ublaszko
Hopefully, they will this year. Fingers crossed! Watch out for aphids as they seem to like iris leaves ☺
