They’ve been too much this year 🤬 found 7 on one lily the other day 😤
@kez001uk They are driving me barmy!! I think I’m losing the battle and my Lily flowers look very deformed.
@bluefox23 oh I hope not 😞 they’re the most vile bugs 🤬 and usually by time you notice them they’ve multiplied and eaten chunks through most leaves 😫

😱😱😱 look what I found on my #asiaticlily #lily #goldenjubilee and there was another on my delicate joy lily too! Just spent ages removing as many grubs and eggs as I could. No wonder my lilies didn’t do as well this year! I didn’t think I had lily beetles but I was wrong!! Buggers!! 21/07/19
@richard.spicer.7906 @lexijane you were right! Lucky I was just watching a gardeners world from a few weeks ago where they did a feature on them! Made me go and check my lilies!!
@cyndi So do I. I removed the beetles and they went to big hell! The grubs I removed too but I’ll keep checking each evening for a few days as I want to make sure the bulbs get enough energy from he leaves for next year.

I've seen the damage they can do on a friends lillies, horrible things. I've seen lilly beatlees on my lillies but luckily no grubs so far
Found one on my dahlia leaf this morning that's right next to my Lillie's 😱😱😱

Probably lily beetle. They can drop on their backs when they see someone coming and can't see them against the soil. You need to be stealthy 😂😂
Check them about 8.30/9 but lift your pot above yr head as the beetles might be under leaves also check for brown patches as it's the larvea that will eat yr plant and you will also end up with more beetles next year! 😲😰

@ublaszko @Keely I had a look and couldn’t see anything resembling beetles or larvae. However I did see lots of aphids so need to give it a washing up liquid spray tomorrow. Also when I was putting pot down, a green caterpillar fell out so I have a feeling that/they might be the culprit!!

Hmmm sounds like the caterpillar has had lunch then good you didn't find the beetle they make more damage as they can eat the flower heads!!
Keep an eye out for greenflies. I just left the house and they were flying everywhere 😨😨 They kept landing on my hair and t shirt. 😵 On the upside, it's a sign that the summer is coming 😀

These don't really look like lilies. Do you have any other plants in this pot?
A couple of mine have started too, I wouldn’t worry too much - they will probably slow down a bit now the weather has got a bit colder. I tend to divide mine in autumn, if you do it now just of course be cautious not to damage any of the growing tips from the scales 👍🏼
@ublaszko they are shoots from the tiny bulblets that tend to form around the main scale bulb. They can sometimes be a bit prolific! I’ve had up to 50 form over a couple of years on some of mine, and others hardly any.
Yes @ublaszko I thought that last year but soon realised that they were from the lily bulbs. You can scroll back and see! 😊
@richard.spicer.7906 Oh that’s frustrating as I was going to divide them and repot them in Autumn but was advised by a few people to do it in spring! Would you recommend I leave it till this autumn, rather than attempt it now? 😊

It took sometime for me to open up....
@clare2611 Can’t believe how many flowers I should get. There are 4 stems with flower buds and each one has over 5 flowers. How long do the flowers last? Longer than a day lily I hope!! 😊

Could be, they lay tiny little red eggs on the back of the leaves, also vine weevils love lilies 😬😬
Good luck, the buds look well! I think lilies need a beetle sensor to zap them immediately 😂 I've never had any luck with them.

#advice needed for this #asiaticlily. Bought it at end of flowering season last year so first time growing from bulb. The red circle is of a definite growth from bulb but also got lots of this this free/red/purple shoots as well (yellow arrows). Are they weeds or part of the lilies growing? I left them in pot over winter outside so pleased there’s signs of life!! Any advice gratefully received!!! #goldenjubilee
I have lots of shoots too so think they’re part of the lily.
Ok thanks @clare2611 I thought I’d leave it a while anyway to see how it developed before I thought about removing them, just in case!! There were 3 #bulbs/plants in it last year so hoping all 3 develop. Thanks for the reassurance!
