I appear to have grown a rude parsnip!? I feel all Ester Rantzen about it - oh well βthatβs lifeβ #70βsreference π

Never seen such knobbly knees...π

π³π³π³ @rachelbrooks π

Hahahahahaha

Ha ha just like my carrot last week so funny π

πππ

@rachelbrooks I wasn't looking at his knees! ππ

Iβm not sure @rachelbrooks was either @anges πππ

Always taste better after a frost too!!

πππ

ππ

Oh blimey @scaryskates hope it wasnβt a selfie π€³π±π³

Despite my first go at growing #parsnips last year being a success - really struggled to get many to germinate this year so this is a precious harvest! ππ

Looks good to me

Epic if humorous fail on the #parsnips this year after repeated sowing 5 germinated and 1 produces this ππ πshowed some very late seeds on tapes so goodness knows what they will produce in the autumn π

Oo er.

π Carole, although it is funny. Very restrained there Gary @scaryskates considering the other body part I can see π

My thoughts exactly @susanhumphrey333 π

@scaryskates thanks!! just snorted out loud at the school gates π³πππ

This conversation is hysterical and what a picture Carole πππ

π check out those leg's ππ

@daisy-jane besides the little extra I thought it looked like a barbie doll ππ yes @linfoster it's had the chicken coop deposits on it all winter so I was thinking I'd over fertilised, it's been destoned and dug deep so they can grow straight, and they grew brilliantly last year there.. some you win some you lose!

Maybe more like Ken's legs with the extra bit πππ

This is probably the ugliest picture I've ever posted but they taste so much better than they look! Especially covered with parmesan cheese and roasted π #parsnip #gyo π happy Sunday everyone

Mine are even worse than these I can assure you π. I will post a photo later

ππ that's all that matters! All goes down same hole as my Dad so eloquently used to say! π

Oh challenge on @elsie I look forward to seeing those! @rachelbrooks ha ha sounds like my dad, he cut the mould of the cheese, drank unpasteurised milk and ate out of date food in defiance!

#uglyreallyisbeautiful

Gotta love parsnips regardless of their.... shape ππ

One veg I hate along with courgette and marrow !!

πππππ

ππ mind you Carole I do that with the out of date food...with the exception of dairy and fish, I'm convinced it's just a ploy to get us to buy more! And I remember my dad actually waiting for mould to form on the cheese before eating it! π³

Out of date food would be a dream.. @rachelbrooks πdespite the 4 children having homes of their own they still raid the fridge π‘ but yes I'd still eat out of date food, If you wash it down with gin it's like an alcohol cleanser π

Oh dear @juliesgarden you'd have starved in our house this summer with my courgette glut! Even got a spiralizer to get more inventive π saw a comedian last night that was taking the mick out of spiralizers and dared my husband not to "out" me ππ

Oh it's normally the healthy stuff Carole! π all the rubbish goes in a flash! π
Ugly picture alert βΌοΈ but a lovely discovery! So it appears the chickens ate all the foliage and these therefore were not so little hidden gems - Iβve now a bucket full of #parsnips to peel π
What do you do with your parsnips? #yum
@emch I part boil them and roll in flour and Parmesan cheese and roast! I have frozen several portions in tin foil containers ready to take out and roast! π
π€€
Yumbo!
They look great Carole, by coincidence we have curried parsnip soup for lunch today, sadly not home grown π²
Ohh @churchfarmgarden that too sounds delicious! Love parsnip soup, I add chilli but curry sounds so good!
Try it Carole it's really tasty, and a can of coconut milk as part of the liquid π
Ooh @churchfarmgarden adding the coconut milk sounds even more delicious π
Is there a recipe online, @churchfarmgarden ?
If you search online there's loads of recipes come up @emch @carolecuttingitfine but all with different ingredients! When I make it I just use parsnips, onion, curry powder, chicken stock and a can of coconut milk. Quite important to take the hard core out of the parsnips I find, or grate them, that works well too π²
