Starting to grow! Plants are so much healthier this year being in bigger containers and only watering and feeding well once a week, at the mo... Mainly because we haven't had any sun and the greenhouse is a bit leaky with all this rain 😉💦💦no more grow bags for me!

I stopped using them years ago after having not much success, large pots are far better. Easier to move as well if you have to 😀

Well done! They will taste delicious. Is this the first time you've grown tomatoes? If so, you'll notice the difference 🍅

@mrsburns no my third year.. And still I haven't learnt not to sow so many seeds, this Autumn I shall mostly be making soup and Bolognese sauce (hopefully😉)

I know that issue @carolecuttingitfine . I have 30 tomato plants thriving in the greenhouse. 😕

@carolecuttingitfine @mrsburns I have heard that repeatedly growing the same crop in the same soil for more than a few consecutive years can seriously impact soil fertility. It's why I avoided growing too many this year. Do you fertilise your soils anew each year? Or get new compost or some other method to maintain soil fertility?

@zylo for the last two years I've had grow bags on the floor of the greenhouse, but this year I've used old tin baths and other containers. The grow bags were good but dry out quickly, the containers have a mix of rotting compost from my heap in the bottom and fresh bagged compost on the top.. So hopefully ok.. Next year I'll swop and put cucumbers or peppers in those containers..

I use fresh compost each year @zylo . I do for all my crops as they're all grown in tubs or grow sacks.
