Isn't it Julie 😍 went almost black in full sun but must say I prefer it this colour . Make sure with yours you get rid of almost all original soil round roots and pot it up in really good free draining compost ! I followed Marks advice on compost mix as most of mine ( all succies) just didn't seem to be growing well at all . I call it MMM...marks magic mix 😂 but trust me its worked wonders as I repotted every single pot with it and I've had more growth this last week than all bloomin summer😳
@cazz47 and @hagar whats the secret recipe? I've read of so many different combos I ended up just getting some ready made mix to make do. Lend me your wisdom oh succulent masters! 😁
Haha hi Emily @blissfulinoz I have tried various mixes too and found this one to be the best so far... Just having repotted every single succulent using this mix and it's only been 2 wks and can honestly see a difference in growth rate and just general perkiness already! I've so far used just normal potting compost, sand, perlite and even clay cat litter for drainage, it always starts off ok but after a couple of months the mix tended to dry out to a rock hard, impenetrable lump, which meant ⬇️
...Which meant... the water bypassed the roots and ran straight out bottom of pot... I only noticed something was wrong when the plants, although watered, didn't seem to grow even in their growing season. They also started to shrivel so I took them out of their pots and even if id only just watered, the root ball was bone dry! So... on seeing Marks @hagar success with his plants decided It was about time i changed my mix lol ⬇️
My mix now consists of 30%×30%×60 or 70% in my case I go by cupping my hands together lol so 3 of multipurpose compost 3 John innes no2 and 6 Sharpe horticultural sand- this isn't actually 'sand' it's very fine grit! I just add more grit for my Aeoniums because I leave them in the rain whereas my echeveria are under cover so don't get as wet! Hope this helps @blissfulinoz
@cazz47 ty for taking the time to type that all out for me! Screen-shotting and going to check my local suppliers so I can come up with something similar! So excited! 💗
