#advice I want to know how to overwinter my fushia properly :) Cant find a lot in the books I have and have often found the internet unreliable for these sorts of things. Any help will be greatly appriciated :P
I've only ever cut them back in spring. I sometimes think should I be mulching them but they do so well with no specific attention, that I don't want to jinx it! Will be interested to see what others say.
I think this might be hardy, hoping so, as I’ve got this one and I’m just leaving it to do it’s own thing. I have taken several cuttings though in case. So I’ll have several plants next year 😂
I've taken some cuttings too. I do have another fushia, Southern Belle Happy Wedding Day (I think?) But I lost the label so don't know if it's hardy :(
@Denise16 Thanks for your help. What would you say is the best time to move them because I am hoping to put a rose bush in that spot for next year which will be arriving in the post soon?
The Belle series are tender fuchsias. Not sure if it's worth overwintering it unless you have plenty of space in the greenhouse ☺ I leave my hardy fuchsia outside and it's done well over the last 3 years but might be worth covering it with horticultural fleece if severe frost is forecast. ☺
Now that it's cold (freezing today in Herts) I wouldn't move anything until the ground warms up again in Spring. When your rose arrives, maybe put a post on here so the rose peeps can advise, they may suggest a pot until spring 🤗
@ublaszko That's the thing :( the only place for it really is a cold north facing conservatory or a dark shed in dormancy. I read an article but it really wasn't too helpful. I would like to keep it as it was very beautiful but I only bought it as a plug so could save myself the effort and buy it again I suppose?
@Denise16 I didn't think about that - thanks! It is a bit chilly here in Somerset, don't think we've had a frost yet though, still don't know when the expected first frost is?!
I'm not sure if it's worth keeping it as it will grow leggy indoors. You could try if you have the space and want to see what happens. But if it's quite a popular plant and you can easily get a replacement then I'd just get a new plant next year. ☺

Ah maybe your location hasn't been hit by the cold yet?

@ublaszko Just looked up and according to this map the first frost date for Bath should be around Dec 11th-20th! I should be alright then?
