My Camellia is dropping all its petals, is this normal or is there a problem? #camellia #problem #sickplant

@hayleyaj

Hi Clare, what soil type do you have? Camellia like an acid soil, so need ericaceous compost. I looks like a new plant, how long has it been planted? π€ @jaynehynesburton

Hi @hayleyaj . Its been in that spot for about 3 weeks. Read they may suffer bud drop if they're too dry so going to up the watering a little and see how it goes then maybe look at the soil as it differs all over the garden. Thank you

That was why I asked! All new plants, or those you move, need plenty of watering for the first few weeks π

That's a stunning picture. They also don't like sun first thing in the morning and a good feed of Sequestered Iron helps too π

Is this blight on my Camellia? #fungus

Was it very cold the night before this happened? Might just be frost damage. It does happen with camellias, something to do with the sun then thawing them out.

@gardening_gems can't remember weather when I first noticed it. Also thought it might be where the petals are touching the wet pot?

I've got a couple of buds opening but fingers crossed they look ok @suzyw
