Same goes for zucchini and I’m wondering if the okra has male and female flowers? If so, then you can try the male flowers so you don’t lose any female flowers (veggies). The zucchini produces tons of male flowers and few female flowers so I take advantage in the early hours to pick them. They pop right back up in a few days. @cowdenkyle

@rudester1 I'm not sure as they have all looked the same. I never knew that zucchini flowers were edible. That sounds yummy😋

@gjones Okra tastes good when breaded and fried in little chopped pieces. I wouldn't try the flower just think it's kinda cool that it's edible😊

I actually am crazy about okra @ublaszko -- it's fantastic sliced, rolled in cornmeal and pan fried. You cannot make gumbo without it! Would love to see that soup recipe @cowdenkyle -- although my place is far too shady to raise my own pods...Scrod knows I've tried

See, @ublaszko ? That's a recipe that depends on slime and it's one of the glories of American cuisine, along with pecan pie and possum on the half-shell. Anyone who trifles with okra should be sternly informed that slimy is a tactile sensation, not a flavor.
