To make pink hydrangeas bluer, or even #trueblue they need to be planted with pennies or lots of extra peat.

@emch It was my mistake planting with an all purpose potting mix. Maybe I will repot it soon with a better mixture😊I don't mind the pink though💗

Add acidity to the soil. Old rusty nails will do or just a blue hortensia potting mix.

Blue or pink I still really like them🤣 #hydrangea

I bought a Buddleja online believing it to be red but when it flowered it was purple. Yours is still very pretty. If you want blue (although it's not as big) try a Corydalis. They're a great blue. The one I've got is Porcelain Blue and it's true to that 💕💕💙💙

So I bought dormant Nikko Blue Hydrangeas online a while back and they are doing awesome but I'm seeing PINK and NOT BLUE😳I purposely bought blue to add to the garden. Do you think the seller lied about the variety?

Pink and blue hydrangeas often change colour once they go in the ground because of soil pH. That's why I buy white hydrangeas instead. 😄

Unless your soil is naturally acidic, I think it’s quite difficult to maintain the blue - even by 'adding' things to make them blue. A lot of the time you end up with some weird hybrid bluey pink somewhere in the middle 😆

Just realised you have it in a pot - have you used ericaceous compost?

@richard.spicer.7906 I ended up using a miracle grow potting mix because it was on hand at the time. I'll just have to accept the bluey pink🤣
