Does it produce plantlets ( baby plants)

It looks more like Oyster Plant Verigated than Spider Plant

Not a spider plant. It is an oyster plant aka Moses in the cradle.

The name on the tag says tradescandia

I just call it my "spider" plant

Tradescandia is the family it's from. There are several varieties of plants that belong to the tradescandia family. But the specific name is oyster plant, the commoname is Moses in the cradle.
