One of my aloe leaves got dark and mushy. HELP! What's wrong and what should I do. Some people say it's over watering but I did not water the plant for a few weeks. Plus, there are drainage holes.

It is too much moisture. Keep in mind that #Succulents grow in the desert with very little humidity. If your plant is getting moist air and the soil not drying out, is is the same as if it were being watered. You can always dig it up and let it dry out. The soil might also need to have more Perlite added to help it dry. You also need to remove the rotted area. It can be kept in straight #Perlite until no more rot I hope some of this helps. #advice #advice-succulent #aloe-advice

Thanks! I also read about cutting the rotted roots. Will the plant get hurt? @lovestogarden

It is going to die as it is, so trying something at this stage will not hurt.

@lovestogarden sorry for asking so many questions, but can I also cut off the leaf? I heard that for many plants, you should cut off dead or injured areas. I'm just so worried about this plant!

Oh, you are fine asking questions. It is how we all learn. Yes, the leaf may tear off. Once this starts, it is hard to stop it. You may not save it, but you will have tried. 😉

You know, it almost looks like it is bruised or got frozen. Either of those will affect the leaf/plant quickly.

@lovestogarden Thank you so much! I'll immediately take action now on the aloe!

Removing dead/diseased/damaged leaves means the plant can put more energy into getting better!

@loves to garden @brightcolours thanks for the info!

Done cutting off dying leaf. Now let's see how things will go
@lovestogarden I checked the roots of my aloe and THEY WERE ALL BROWN. But the leaves are still green and still alive for some reason. I re potted it but I'm afraid it's going to die. What should I do now?
Sorry, Daniel, but it may be too late. 😔 Some pack an ailing plant in just Perlite in hopes that it will stop. Let's ask around.... @hazec @alovealoe @succulentsplants @disneyfacts
You could cut off all of the dead roots. If the rhizome is still intact, new roots will grow.
@alovealoe should I give it a lot of sun to let any moisture dry out?
I would leave it alone now and keep it in filtered light to reduce the stress already on the plant. Keep it away from hot sun while it's trying to get back on the mend.
@hazec thanks!
