Very pretty 🌸💕 I only had two of my four come back as well, despite them all being in the same border all quite close to each other 😏

Looking like a 50% success rate with the dahlias. Suppose I'll have to be happy with that.

I shouldn't worry yet Dave, I'm still waiting for some of mine, one more appeared yesterday and I think I've got three or four left to go. 👌👌👌

Question time now. I've had these dahlias stored over winter. When is it best to plant them out, and do I put them in pots to get them going or straight into the ground ?.

I have had mine in pots for about a week now in the greens @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co

I waited for signs of shooting and potted them up. They are in my shed/greenhouse in a plastic tent. Bubble wrap at the ready too in case of frost at night. It's my first year growing them though Dave, so I'm no expert 😊

Depends on how big your tubers are. You can give them a head start in pots in a greenhouse until any chances of frost have past or plant them straight out once clear of frosts. Left mine in last winter/autumn as one I'd missed year before was fine and flowered better than those lifted so will see but I'm cambridgeshire and a very shelter garden with plenty of leaf litter as a blanket for them

I've started my new ones on windowsill in pots to warm them up to sprout then will put outside once frost has gone, nip middle shoot out and pot them into garden or bigger pots 👍

I've started mine but stupidly watched a few YouTube videos on separating them to create new tubers... not sure after some stuff I've read today! Hoping and praying it works x

I pot my DAHLIAS up early March Dave @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co water them and leave them in the greenhouse. Some have started shooting already :)

I put mine in pots now and leave in the shed until they've got a good bit of growth on then, it protects them against any frost but also from snails which love young tender dahlias.
