Love the geums too
@maureen137 their one of my favorites maureen aswell.
Love these things, quite vigorous growers 👍
@gardengimp i seem to be attracted by thirsty big leaved plants graham 😂
I thought mine was thirsty when I saw it wilt on a hot day around midday, but it recovers without a drink in the shade late afternoon. But then again in a container its a different matter. They do keep you hanging for the flowers! 😄 I'd like some verbena bonariensis at the side, the yellow would really pop with violet @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co
@gardengimp about aug last year graham.

I took your advice re keeping this in a pot Dave and for the first time ever it looks as if it’s going to get beyond just a few slug destroyed leaves!

- Early Summer 2019
- 11
It didnt look like this last year 🤬 #slugfodder @jpea i wish mine looked like yours jeremy.
Oh that’s ☹️
@joanboston ive been struggling all year with it joan, so ive dug it up, cut all the leaves off it, and put it in a pot on its own, and see how it goes. Its a shame as their a nice plant.
😱 morning Dave @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co Been struggling here with the horrid 🐌, try not to use pellets to much, but this year with all the rain there seems to be an invasion of them. I’d have nothing left if I didn’t move plants to higher ground or use pellets everywhere & of course have to be careful with Lulu around. Hope it survives 🤞
Ouch! Dave, I must admit I've been pretty good putting down small amounts of slug pellets regularly
Not good and the 🐌 seem to be hiding alot round here multiplying then mass invasion😡 I'm starting to use the organic pellets to see if they work as well as normal ones better for everyone if they do hopefully except the 🐌
Put in a little pond, as soon as frogs move in the numbers of slugs and snails goes right down 👍🏻
@sadieberg ive got two small ponds vivien, and frogs everywhere. It has helped, but they seemed to like this one plant particularly. I wont use pellets, as we lost our border collie years ago after she ate some our next door neighbour put down. 😪
I'm with you over the slug pellets, lethal for all wildlife. You will have to target all the other methods just on that pot, I had some success with coffee grounds👍🏻
@valjones-hughes 6 weeks ago val 😯
Wow! So what did you do Dave?
@valjones-hughes i dug it up, cut all the leaves off it, and put it in a large pot, i was hoping just to get a few new leaves, but its almost completely recovered, and starting to flower, so well pleased.
- Mid Spring 2019
- 20
This is mine laura @columbiariver slug fodder 😢😢😢
☹
Oh no get slug pellets 🐌
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom can you get wildlife friendly one now. We lost a dog years ago, becouse a neighbour used them and our dog ate them 😢
Oh no that’s terrible Dave....I don’t know I just use the usual ones and I must admit Barney doesn’t go near them. I’ve just had a look on google and you CAN get pet friendly ones, have a look...
- Early Spring 2019
- 20
@joanboston any idea what might be munching its way through this joan, ive checked and checked, and nothing. Its a nice plant, getting ruined 😡
Annoying 😧
It could be that it was nibbled by slugs when the leaves were small, the holes grow with the leaves sadly
@joanboston thanks joan, ive got it sat in a moat now, so hopefully stop any more damage.
- Late Winter 2019
- 22
#newgrowth coming along well.
- Late Winter 2019
- 21
#macro i do like these big leafy plants
Me too. Also dark leaves plants. Our Desdemona is in the ground and starting to come up now
I put my other in the ground last summer joan, it was struggling in a pot with all the heat, so itll be interesting to see how it gets on. @joanboston
They like a lot of water don’t they?
@joanboston just a bit joan 🤣

- Early Summer 2018

First flower on this 🤗
@jpea this was mine last summer jeremy about july. They like wet feet.
I've named it as such until proved otherwise and will hopefully see flowers in about a month. It's in a bright spot but with no direct sunlight and its damp so that's probably why its enjoying itself @davewrightjoinerygooglemail.co
- Late Spring 2018
- 23
My new ligularia, in its new pot. Be interesting to see how it gets on 🤗
Keep it well watered, they don’t like drying out. Amazing flowers
I'm still on the lookout for one after seeing your other one last year Dave 😁👍
@joanboston i seem to have an obsession for plants that need buckets of water over them joan 😂
Not such hard work if they are in the ground Dave😂 does look good in your pot though
- Mid Spring 2018
- 22
Comes with a free 45 gallon water butt 😁 i wish.
What a great plant for under a tenner, filling this half oak barrel really quickly.
