Morning! Can anyone tell me if it's normal for these to grow like this or should I be tying them up? Once they flower they are much straighter. Also, how can I control them so they don't seed everywhere? #plantsurgery
I always put supports around mine .. they also need cutting right back in April after the worst of the frost is over they will then grow up from the crown and if the support is already in situ they will grow straight as long as they also have 360 sunshine ☀️ if concerned about seeding cut back just the flowered heads when over .. it's a good idea to reduce the height before winter comes to avoid too much wind rock, but leave the majority of the top growth to protect the crown over winter 🙂
Thanks @icedance 😊 for the advice. I cut these back earlier this year and they have grown loads since. They are in my front garden which gets full sun. I will get some support for them. I found foxes or cats were jumping on them and breaking the crown 😫. I will definitely cut back the flowered heads when they are done flowering. Thank you so much 😊
🐱 oh dear that would do it 😲definitely a need for some support/ protection from these guys using it as trampoline 🤣
