Mine are out through out the year, never in. They can resist as low as -3 degrees for 3 nights if they are happy with their soil. I am sure yours will be ok too.

I don't think it's a rule set in stone but it's still very early for them to be flowering so snipping them of can't hurt. Should hopefully help them produce more later on🤞 Are your flowers small? @itstillhelen

I've been sorting mine out too. I didn't cut mine back until a bit later than this last year, it was nice to have a bit of colour in the greenhouse 👍👍

I trimmed when flowering was about over I pruned them to about 4”. They need very little water over winter. They are Pelargoniums by the way, Geraniums are the hardy ones. I need to alter the ones in my directory as I have them wrong!! Hope this helps Denise 😍😍

It's a difficult one Denise as sometimes I find cutting them back encourages botrytus (Have no idea how to spell that) so i cut back my large ones and pot up the cuttings and put them in the cuttings on the kitchen window and the small ones I leave alone. Make sure you regularly go into the greenhouse and take off any brown leaves 😊

6w
comment
angiecrazycatlady

If your worried just leave them without cutting back, in the past I've overwintered all mine successfully big and small without doing a thing to them 😊

Afternoon GT! What a rainy day here ☔️☔️☔️ This is a geranium I brought indoors to over winter. It hasn’t actually stopped shooting new leaves, which I have been cutting off to preserve its strength. I think from now on I shall let them grow seeing as spring is just around the corner 🌿🌿🌿🤗 #overwinter #newgrowth

only cut old dying leaves or flower stems. new leaves are feeding plant increasing strength

The new leaves have been growing constantly. I thought it needed to die back during winter? @moore.794

only if its dormant. incool dark place like a unheated cellar. you need to put in brightest, warmest window and give a weak dose of fertilizer. if kept dormant bring out in feb. and place in warm bright spot to start growing for summer. most modern homes do not have a place to keep them dormant so need to keep growing.

Morning GTs😀 Lovely to see the geranium leaves putting on an autumn show 🍂🍂😍I read that they can survive winter if they are potted indoors. Can anyone vouch for that? #geraniums #advice #autumnal

Hi Denise. They can be overwintered and you can take cuttings too. I did cuttings last year which I shall do again, but I'm also going to try overwintering the plants too. 😊😊😊

I notice the leaves on the potted geraniums have turned red, whereas those in the ground are still green. Do you think that's because they're too waterlogged in the pots after all the rain? Or do they indeed go red in autumn? @pelly
