I've put all of mine out now, I hope it's not too early🤞 #overwinter
Overnight forecast for the weekend is very low. Hope it changes!
I’ve had a few of mine out for a while Denise! 😬 so far, so good!
Mine are out through out the year, never in. They can resist as low as -3 degrees for 3 nights if they are happy with their soil. I am sure yours will be ok too.

These have been over wintered, now I'm bringing them out during the day and can hopefully plant them in a couple of weeks depending on the weather ☀️🤞 #overwinter

Beautiful.
Aww see Lainey! You could pop yours in a little vase too! @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom Sweet Denise 💕

It’ll be alright Lainey! Just think how many you’ll have in the summer! 🌸😘 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

Raring to go! But I'll snip them off to save their energy #pelargonium-overwinter
Really?? Is that what I’m supposed to do? Ours have been out a while, oh geez, wrong again! 😫
I don't think it's a rule set in stone but it's still very early for them to be flowering so snipping them of can't hurt. Should hopefully help them produce more later on🤞 Are your flowers small? @itstillhelen

Potting up to overwinter 🤞 never know whether to call them #geranium or #pelargonium 🤔
Angie I remember you did very well overwintering yours, did you trim them down first? @angiecrazycatlady
I've been sorting mine out too. I didn't cut mine back until a bit later than this last year, it was nice to have a bit of colour in the greenhouse 👍👍
Thanks Jane, I'll leave them out for longer too as its so mild🤗 When I do trim, how low should I go🤔 @pelly
I trimmed when flowering was about over I pruned them to about 4”. They need very little water over winter. They are Pelargoniums by the way, Geraniums are the hardy ones. I need to alter the ones in my directory as I have them wrong!! Hope this helps Denise 😍😍
Perfect thanks Jane, I need to get amending too! @pelly
You’re welcome 😍👍
It's a difficult one Denise as sometimes I find cutting them back encourages botrytus (Have no idea how to spell that) so i cut back my large ones and pot up the cuttings and put them in the cuttings on the kitchen window and the small ones I leave alone. Make sure you regularly go into the greenhouse and take off any brown leaves 😊
If your worried just leave them without cutting back, in the past I've overwintered all mine successfully big and small without doing a thing to them 😊
Fab thanks Angie, I have quite a few so will try both methods 🤗 @angiecrazycatlady
Pelargoniums 😊

I had challenged myself to relax in the garden for at least half an hour and not take any photos 🙃 mwah hahahaha #fail
Lovely photo though! 😉
Thanks Alison 🤗 @bluefox23
🤣🤣 I do the same !, fail miserably!
😂 Maybe I'll just try it another time...and fail @juliesgarden

Afternoon GT! What a rainy day here ☔️☔️☔️ This is a geranium I brought indoors to over winter. It hasn’t actually stopped shooting new leaves, which I have been cutting off to preserve its strength. I think from now on I shall let them grow seeing as spring is just around the corner 🌿🌿🌿🤗 #overwinter #newgrowth
only cut old dying leaves or flower stems. new leaves are feeding plant increasing strength
The new leaves have been growing constantly. I thought it needed to die back during winter? @moore.794
only if its dormant. incool dark place like a unheated cellar. you need to put in brightest, warmest window and give a weak dose of fertilizer. if kept dormant bring out in feb. and place in warm bright spot to start growing for summer. most modern homes do not have a place to keep them dormant so need to keep growing.

Morning GTs😀 Lovely to see the geranium leaves putting on an autumn show 🍂🍂😍I read that they can survive winter if they are potted indoors. Can anyone vouch for that? #geraniums #advice #autumnal
Hi Denise. They can be overwintered and you can take cuttings too. I did cuttings last year which I shall do again, but I'm also going to try overwintering the plants too. 😊😊😊
Thanks Jane that's good to know. I'll give it a go🤗Some of them are so big it would be a shame to not try & keep them alive @pelly
Google "overwintering geraniums rhs" it will give all the info you need Denise. It's my go to website. 😊😊😊
I notice the leaves on the potted geraniums have turned red, whereas those in the ground are still green. Do you think that's because they're too waterlogged in the pots after all the rain? Or do they indeed go red in autumn? @pelly
Cheers Jane, I think I'll bring the potted ones into the conservatory today before they drown ☔️🙈 @pelly
Oh, I haven't got a clue. That sent me dashing in to the garden to have a look at mine 😂 but mine are still green although they do darken eventually. I'm sorry, I really don't know. If you find out will you tag me in the answer please? 😊😊😊
Will do 😂 @pelly
This link mentions the leaves turning red when waterlogged. But they do look quite nice. I think I'll stick with 'cos it's Autumn' 🤗 http://homeguides.sfgate.com/geranium-leaves-turning-red-96380.html @pelly
Thanks Denise, interesting reading, I'll have a proper read in the morning. Night night 😴😴😴
