#plantid I have been told that it is a Bay Laurel tree but I am looking for additional confirmation. Central Florida Zone 9b this is a cutting from an 8 to 10 foot tree
We found 3 of them hiding in a rather large pergola / arbor with grape vines. The fact that no one has noticed they were there until they grew taller than the pergola makes me wonder if they grow dormant in the winter. I may need to wait 6 months to know for sure.
@dhagen1054 -- if this is bay laurel you only need to rub & snif the leaves to recognize the scent. As far as I know though the #fragrant leaves of the #101uses bay laurel tree point up; they don't droop like this. I suspect these are pawpaw trees.

I have also been told it is a Dogwood, peach, Mango, and a few others - thus my confusion.
Also, I’d as Diospyros virginiana - persimmon (with alternate leaves).
Well, I'm pretty sure it's not a dogwood or persimmon, the leaves are wrong. (To me)
